I was wondering does anyone have any home remedies for fixing a scratch in a CD?

Well I have used toothpaste or car wax. Actually both of them do wonders.

This unit works pretty good, although there may exist cheaper versions of it. I've used it and have fully restored an old Megadeth CD to perfect working order. It was badly scratched from an unintentional trip down some stairs.
