??? loss of quality in opengl

In control panel I have set opengl and direct3d to the same settings, the settings I have set are:
Quote:
AA: 6x (Quality)
AF: 8x
Texture preference: High Quailty
Mipmap detail level: High Quailty
Wait for v-sync: Always on
Truform: Always off
Playing Half-Life with the same resolution, these are the results I get....

OpenGL mode

Direct3D mode

Is this right? I thought OpenGL was better than Direct3D.. if so is there any solution to fix this, I've tried numerous setting in the OpenGL panel and still the same.

Thanks for any help!

It looks like you have no filtering going on. Check your half-life settings.

Happy days, I had gl_texturemode set to gl_nearest_mipmap_linear instead of GL_LINEAR_MIPMAP_LINEAR... doh

Thanks matey

Also, what settings do you recommend for Half-Life DeathMatch? Does everyone play with everything up full?

With your system you should have everything as high as it will go. I had a P1 233MHz that ran the game completely smooth with a TnT2 card. It was almost perfrect with the TnT1 too.
