Default Post Windows XP SP1...Why the hype?

Ok, I see lots of people excited when the SP1 Builds are leaked, but exactly what does each one do? Does it increase performance? Increase stabilty? What exactly does this Service Pack do for gaming?

well the problem is we dont have the full list of the updates for these leaks as we really arent meant to be using them yet, they are for internal use for microsoft techs and testers.

The various builds are the progress on what is to be the offical SP pack for windows xp which is meant to address and enhance various parts of the operating system, from the kernal, the stability, compatibility and performance on various systems.

I have found on a personal level, from installing the various builds on different rigs, that performance is always a little better the higher the build, and that the most recent leak 1065 has given an increase in the GUI performance on the radeon 8500.

if you are concerned with installing any of these service pack builds, dont be, you have a complete uninstall and later releases are able to be installed over the previous revisions without any issues.

really its up to yourself as to whether its worth the effort, the offical build will be released in the next 4-8 weeks so if your system is running smooth and you arent finding any problems dont bother.

its really quite a buzz to be playing with leaked sets and builds, and part of the enjoyment is seeing slight improvements and knowing you are experimenting with something that you arent meant to have
