Power outage = monitor fail
Well, there was a few power outages, 7 actually, in a row. One right after the other while my computer was on. So I shut it down, go to walmart for a cookie, come back and turn my computer on to find that everything on the monitor is fuzzy. The color and everything is fine, but it's as though there's some static or some other intereference.
So, I'm trying to determine whether the issue is with my monitor or something else. I don't have another monitor to test it with. Any ideas that don't involve me paying $150 for another monitor? |

Re: Power outage = monitor fail
User another computer to see if the problem lies with the monitor or the computer. It wouldn't hurt to also try another PC to Monitor cable, although the chances of that being the problem now are slim.
Also make sure that nothing has moved from where it is supposed to be, that includes the cable connection to the PC and to the monitor, power cables, and even open the inside of the PC case to check the cables there. I kid you not, it is possible something like this is the reason. But yeah, more likely something got damaged, be it the monitor or the graphics card.

Re: Power outage = monitor fail
So, I stopped being an idiot and hooked my laptop up to the monitor. Still get the same fuzzy static, so it must be the monitor, thanks anyway.

Re: Power outage = monitor fail
If you have tried a different cable, then yes, more than likely it is a R.I.P monitor.
Good luck.

Is that a CRT or LCD?
If it's a CRT, and if it has the option to do so, you might try degausing it.
