Hye, got a new PC, but..
Just a question, had overclockers build it for me. But im not sure what soundcard thing its using.
I have the fatality sound blaster one, but i think it may be using the realtek hd onboard one? How can i tell? and how can i change it to use the sound blaster? |

Re: Hye, got a new PC, but..
Go down to the picture of a speaker next to the clock at the bottom right of your screen. Right click the speaker and choose playback devices. One of the list items will have a green tick. What does it say for that item?
Should be: Speakers ?????????? Default device |

You could disable the onboard sound chip in the BIOS, or look under device manager and see what's installed and maybe try to disable the onboard one that way.
Post a screenshot of your sound control panel, if you're in win7/vista right-click and select to show disconnected and disabled devices. Also make sure your speakers are plugged into the fatality connectors and not the onboard connectors.

Re: Hye, got a new PC, but..
I think ive done it, i set all the tray icons to use sound blaster default and went in device manager to set xfi default. It seems like the front panel jacks are the onboard, so plugged into the soundcard at the back and seems to work now. thx guys, if more problems will report back! still havent tested my microphone

Any sort of improvement on sound quality? I've never had one and I'm not 100% sure of their uses...

Re: Hye, got a new PC, but..
hey man, great you got a new system! how do you like it?
as for the soundblaster, yea set all windows defaults to the SB X-Fi and adjust any programs to SB X-Fi then you should be great. now time for you to update that hardware profile to see what you got

Vent is a bit of a pain. Just be sure that your output device for your OS matches what is selected in Vent and you should be fine. My problems are usually the other way around with remembering which device is listed as my headset.
