??? 30" LCD - worth the money?

I've been wanting a 30" lcd and I presently have a 24". My question is, would I notice a considerable difference in the 2560x1600 resolution over the 1920x1200? I don't want to drop the cash for a larger resolution if I won't notice a significant difference in clarity while playing games such as COD4 and COD5.

Re: 30" LCD - worth the money?

Yes I think its worth the money - 2560x1600 is as big a step up as 1280x800 to 1920x1200 IMO.

Not just for gaming either, once you experience 2560 it really is hard to go back.

If you are borrowing money to do it and will end up struggling to pay for it no, but if you have the cash spare, go for it. You can flame me if you think it sucks.

Re: 30" LCD - worth the money?

Alright, I just wanted to get some feedback before dropping the dough. Others I've spoken with have told me to just get a 32" lcd t.v. and my reply was the same, the 1920x1080 resolution can't compare to the 2560x1600. However, I've never seen what the picture looks like on the 2560x1600 so I'm rather curious.

Re: 30" LCD - worth the money?

Keep in mind that if money is an issue, you get slightly more desktop real estate running dual 1080p monitors than a single 30", for about half the cost.

But if you've already got a 24", you can run that as your secondary, and you're good to go.

Oh, my 24" is plenty big. I just want to be able to take full advantage of my 285's capabilities and a 30" with the 2560x1600 would allow me to do so. I'm trying to scrape up some cash.

Re: 30" LCD - worth the money?

ANYONE.. and i mean anyone i've shown the 2560x1600 30" dell's that i had, wanted it badly.

The extra 6 inches is a major jump....

but the more then DOUBLE the definition pixel wise is like night and day.

It's far more imersing. Frankly it's incredible. I miss my 30"..... i'd take a single 30" 2560x1600 over 2 or even 4 24" 1920x1200 displays or a 52/55 " 1080p

Re: 30" LCD - worth the money?

it's why i'm excited to see that they are making an effort to make 2160p TV's and displays available...... there are already commercial products available.. but the price is rediculious...

There is already rumored 2160p Projectors come around which would be quite a sight to see as the higher resolutions at a distance on a large format display is what really shows.

but a 30" 2560x1600 sitting at no more then 3 feet away is quite shocking.

Well, I just picked one up on eBay that had just been listed. The buy it now price was $569 +$40 for shipping and handling and I picked it up with shipping for $553 by using a 10% off Paypal coupon. I asked the seller if there were any dead or stuck pixels and received a reply that there are none.

that's an incredible deal..

which model is it..

can you post the revision? (when you get it)

the A02 and newer models are imo the best for the 3007 FPW/WFP... or is it an HC model?

how is the brightness variance across the panel? any dead pixels? (at that price even a few dead pixels would be acceptable IMO).

NO dead or stuck pixels anywhere! I can't believe what good shape it's in. It really looks as if it came directly from Dell because there's not a mark or scuff on it anywhere! The brightness works perfect, too! This is by far one of the best investments I've made!
