SSD Questions
1) Is a 32GB large enough for an OS only drive
2) Are the stuttering issues worked out yet |

1) Depends on the OS, but probably yes. 2) Depends on the drive They have come a long way in the past few months. Watch out for a round-up in the next 2 weeks of a few recent models...

Re: SSD Questions
I highly suggest staying away from an Apex. Very poor random read/writes. A Vertex is a good choice though. But a 30GB is enough for an OS if you install all your games/applications on a separate drive.

Re: SSD Questions
You will also want to read up on SSDs as there is a lot to consider, especially in the setup/use of them. THIS page is a good jumping point, as is the rest of the OCZ forum, to a lot of info not only about the Vertex, but general SSD info too including using them specific OS's, proper maintenance, defrag tools, and such.
There's a lot of plus and minuses to using one that people just don't realize, such as having to properly setup the alignment of the drive before you use it, turning off features of Windows that will deteriate the drive over time, and so fourth. Be sure to do your homework on them before you choose to get one. |

Re: SSD Questions
Personally i'd wait for the SSD market to really heat up before making the splurge... i got tempted nearly 2 months ago when i got the dragon kit to get a vertex drive.... but after thinking about it for a bit..... it just wasn't worth it.... so little space for so much cash for some pretty crazy speeds but still a few hitches and glitches that need work. Controllers failing to produce overall good figures and unable to handle to performance of the drives to.
It's always wise to let at least a 3 + full generation changes go by before considering them. I MAY get one come oct22nd when win7 launches.... And personally i wouldn't get any less then a 50gb/60gb SDD for main OS...
