PC Wont Boot; No Beep Sound
Hi ppl,
My PC was rendering (people in 3D & graphics should know what im talking about). This is a long process which requires a lot of processing power and takes a long period to complete. The pc was on rendering for about 2+hrs and then I opened up MSN and the PC froze. So i pressed my reset button and that was it. PC never booted up again. No beep sound. Black screen. I removed the Ram chips, still no beeps, removed the Graphics card, still no beeps. I'm assuming my CPU is fried, because of the long rendering hours and so it probably got overheated, but not sure. All my lights light up, I can hear the HD spinning etc.. but black screen. Could the PSU be dead or my CPU? Any Ideas? PC Spec: 2.6 AMD Athlon X2 2 X 1GB Kingston 4200 (i think) Geforce 7900 GS Asus m2m-sli deluxe (mobo)

Could be PSU or CPU, do you have another PSU you could swap in there to test? Or check this PSU in a different system, or on the bench. Rule out one and it points to the other.

Re: PC Wont Boot; No Beep Sound
I would guess PSU because due to BIOS settings regarding the CPU you would have heard a 5 man band before it failed ... unless you had those disabled.

I would try resetting the cpu, making sure graphics is plugged in, and reset the cmos, if you haven't

What does this do?

Re: PC Wont Boot; No Beep Sound
Try restting the Cmos with the cmos battery removed, if you haven't done already. This has worked where all else has failed for me on a few occassions in the past. If not, then I'm afraid you've broken something.

Re: PC Wont Boot; No Beep Sound
I had similar problem twice , it came out that MB chip was burnt so I would strongly recommend you to try your CPU,Ram on another computer and try another CPU, Ram on your M.B . This way you could discover where is the problem exactly , Once you figured that out Call your "bad piece" retail if the warranty still applied. They will replace/repair it.
And , always be sure your CPU has enough cooling and the fans didn't stop , there is some programs that warn you once your CPU exceeds a specific " * C " you determine and there is one in the bios setting too.
