X1650 PRO AGP Game Crash / Lockup
hi, i have a problem with my recently installed X1650 PRO AGP and i've tried all the other solutions including the ones posted here. i've tried playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance and after 5-10 mins my PC goes into a lockup / crashes! HELP!
I've tried the following:
* Give the X1650 a dedicated power supply (no other connections from HD, drives, etc etc
* Replaced the ATI catalyst drivers with the Omega ones
* Checked temps - they all check out fine
* Cleaned the cooling fans and all
BUT STILL THE PROBLEM PERSISTS! I need help!
These are my specs:
ASROCK Mobo 775I65G
Intel Pentium D 2.66Ghz
1Gig DDR-400
2 units HD @ 80Gigs each (took apart my old PC's and transferred the HD's, hehehe)
2 units Drives - 1 Combo Drive and 1 DVD Writer Radeon X1650 PRO AGP 512MB
Hope someone can help me!

Exactly what brand is your PSU?
Does this only happen during 3D gaming?
Have you tested your RAM using Memtest86+?
We need a bit more information, please.

Re: X1650 PRO AGP Game Crash / Lockup
the same thing happened to a friend of mine, not with the same game but with the same GFX card... his problem was with Silent Hill 4 - The Room... for no apparent reason, the game kept crashing just after a few minutes of gameplay... we never did found out why this happened... tried everything, most of the things you described above... couldn't find the problem, tried even OCing the GFX card with RivaTuner, but with no results... in the end, he bough a new nVidia model.

Re: X1650 PRO AGP Game Crash / Lockup
hi, it actually happens only when i play Marvel Ultimate Alliance. so far. my other games, nba live and stronghold 2 work just fine (i don't know if these fall under 3d games).
i'm still about to replace my generic PSU. i'm not familiar with its AMP rating but it has an output of 450watts only. am hunting for a branded one though. Silverstone sounds good but is a bit expensive!
hope you can help!

Just out of curiosity, which 3D API does the game use that crashes? Is it DirectX or OpenGL? I'm not familiar at all with the title.

if it's a newer game, it should be DirectX, i think OpenGL was reserved for older games, released in the Voodoo days of GFX cards...
god i loved those Voodoo cards, still have my Voodoo Bungee card , and it still works fine...
sorry for the offtopic discussion...

Re: X1650 PRO AGP Game Crash / Lockup
OK, according to Wiki, it was released in 2006. So, the next question is: Are there any patches for the game? Have you downloaded and applied them? Have you searched the game's forums for help re: settings and tweaks?
