Projector and DDC issues (i think)

Hello!

I hooked up a projector (an older one) to my laptop (HP Pavilion running Vista Home Premium) and it displays the picture on the wall no problem but after varying periods of time the computer seems to stop recognising it and it will switch back to the computer display and then back and forth until it settles on the projector again. It does this intermittently.

I got really fed up of it last night and as I suspected it of being a problem with DDC, being as Vista does not let you manually disable it, i removed pin twelve on the vga connector at both ends, unfortunately this did not help, as now the projector says it cant display the input and has H: 64.04 and V: ??? at the bottom

Any ideas would be massively appreciated!

Cheers!
