What Do You Think It Might Be ??
My daughter called me from college last night and told me her computer wouldn't start. My wife and I had just brought her back to college after Spring Break. I know she getting power to the motherboard because the lights on the board light up with the power on. The problem is when she pushes the start button on the tower nothing happens. It kinda sounds like to me that her PSU has gone bad. What doe you guys think. Any other possibilities I'm missing?

Sounds like you need to take it apart and see it the PSU works. Just get mobo and PSU out of the case and then put them over a box and fire it up to see does it boot.

Probably the PSU.
Check the connectors as well before taking things apart. Usually when the PSU pops, the lights on the mobo might seem "fine" |

Hopefully it's just the PSU..... in some occasions it's been the motherboard..

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. My daughter is coming home for Easter Friday and bring her tower with her so I can look it over. I will keep your suggestions in mind. I'm hoping its just the PSU myself.

Ok, I've got my daughter's computer home and I've opened it up and it won't boot. The motherboard is a Abit Fatality AA8XE. I'm getting a post code of F5. Any ideas? When the power buttomn is pushed it clicks but nothing happens.

Abit's site and manual weren't helpful so I can't say what it exactly is.

Sounds like a damaged mainboad.
