Is my psu is a serial killer?

I installed an antec quattro 1000watt psu into my pc last week which decided to go psycho and commit suicide and take-out the motherboard along the way.
I have sent them both back to the store and the replacement parts are on their way back to me now, but I didnt worry about getting the cpu and ram tested. I dont have another socket 775 / DDR2 mobo to try them in either.
What chance do you guys think that the cpu and/or ram could also be fried? Im hoping they are ok.
since the 'incident', i reinstalled my old pc setup to use in the meantime, But I cannot seem to get my two X1900's to run in crossfire now, as soon connect the crossfire cable to both cards and turn on the pc I get nothing but a blank screen on the monitor. what do you think of this?

thanks in advance all

a psu can set fire to every component in your system if you let it. i'd assume some part in your cards that controls CF is damaged from a surge. i never heard anything very good about antec so i avoid them, their PSus anyway....

I remember hooking up an old 400w power supply when i was having troubles with my rig about a year ago. I plugged it all in, turned on my rig (i was running it on a box btW) and the PSU let off a HUGE Pop and started smoking

Nothing was damaged though amazingly.
I'd say your PSU is probably a serial killer if it killed 1 board it'll eitheir be dead now or it'll take out more. Get rid of it and get another one

dude, looking at your old thread about surge protectors and 1000w PSUs, just get rid of the Antec piece o' shit you have there and buy a REAL PSU like the Corsair 750TX with its four 8-pin PCI-e connectors and single rail or the Tagan ITZ 1100w PSU with its ultra quiet design and EMF filters

then theres the Enermax Galaxy 1000w thats probably better constructed than either 2 mentioned up there....

The store has sent me a new psu and motherboard, they should arrive in the next day or two. Although it's an Antec psu, At least it is a different and new one.

i would not hold the thinking on the negative side of situations, that would waste my energy, or money.

it's hard to tell what happened to rest of hardwares (the system processor, memory modules, cards...) at the last incident.
all i would do is to check all the hardwares physically. then when all the parts are available, build the system up again and then take it from there.
