Problem With New Rig

Hey All,

I'm building a new rig and ran into an issue when turning it on for the first time.

Here is what I;m using

AMD Athlon x2 5200+ w/ zalman cnp29500 hsf
Gigabyte M61P-S3
2gb ooc platinum revision 2 ddr2 800 pc2 6400
ocz gamextreme 700w psu
xfx 8600 gt xxx
2 hd 250gb hd;s
dvdrw

When I power up I get no video (have monitor connected to mobo) and the CPU fan shuts off after about 5 seconds. I left it on for about 5 more seconds and still no video. Didnt want to leave it on any longer with no cpu fan.

I would think that 700w is enough juice for this setup but I could be wrong.

Can a temperature issue occur that fast? I applied thermal grease. Really confused on why the fan shuts off so quick. I never saw that before.

Any ideas??

Thanks a lot in advance!

alright, I just reset the RAM and I the video works fine and I can get to BIOS fine.

The fan on the Zalman HSF still shuts off after about 8 seconds. Any clue why?
