22"-24" LCD Monitor Suggestions...
currently looking at the Acer P241W and P243W (which i can't tell the difference between and acer website is a load of shit)
But i'm looking for other alternatives from viewsonic.. and a number of other manufacturers.. I've already consdiered Dell's 2407WFP.. but that's on the back burner.... Can anyone recommend a monitor.... 22 or 24", 1920x1200, with hopefully a HDMI port..... IF it also includes component IN or Video in of any type (audio is not nessary at all) That would be a bonus... Have experience with any of these monitors.... let me know the bad and the good... ![]() thanks!

Hahah, I hit up google for information about the P241W and P243W, and this thread shows up as a result.
BenQ has nice 24" models with HDMI. I've got a 2407WFP-HC sitting here if you want to know anything about it, no HDMI port, though it does support HDCP, and has VGA, DVI-D, S-Video, composite, and component inputs.

My LG L245WPM is a superb 24" p-mva monitor with hdmi, vga, component and audio.
I used it for PC and Xbox 360.

LG's a good option...
I'd LIKE to get a 2407wfp-hc but without HDMI.. it's a concern.... Any other options you could recommend?

If you don't need the audio, what's the problem with using HDMI to DVI-D?

Love my 226BW....although it is an S panel which you cant really get anymore. I would probably go with one of the new 24" dells that are 1920x1200.

Hmm? From what I can find about that panel, it looks to be TN. And although I'm not fully up to date, I was under the impression all 22" panels are TN.

By S panel he means the production facility behind it, not the type of panel.

![]() For 226BW there are S, A and C type panels. S = Samsung A = AU Optronics C = Chi Mei Optoelectronics S panels for the most part are the best colors possible and nicest panel overall. A panels exhibit a higher blue dominance than S panels on gray scales and whites. (this can be adjusted with a usermade color profile, I have done this and it looks identical to my S panel) C Panels are just plain crap all around. |

I'm very happy with the Gateway FPD2275W 22" I use at work (good color and contrast, touch sensitive menus are twitchy though...). I've tried Quake 3 and the UT3 demo on it too - looks great. Has all the inputs (plus some USB 2.0 inputs) you're looking for except the HDMI. Equivalent to the Samsung 215TW but it's not a PVA panel.

Why would you want a monitor with composite? All modern consoles support at atleast component which is like 10 times better.

Cause she uses a VCR with standard cable, doesn't have high defininition available, and plans to watch any HD-DVD or high deffinition content directly THROUGH the computer itself...
That and she doesn't want to spend close to 700-800 bucks on it lol the 570 price tag was a bit high.. but i'll pitch in a few to cover it as a christmas gift ![]() she's a graphic artist... and from what i could tell.. the samsung model looked like a sweet sucker.. much better then that Acer "value" 24" monitor....

Are you kidding me? She is a graphics artist and she is going to buy a TN panel monitor? Might as well quit her job.

...just bummin 'round
|
just picked up the ACER P221W 22 inch widescreen from best buy for $299.99, its the second one down on the list. its lsted as the P221WBD w/ 2 DVI's but instore here they only had the P221W wihch has all the same specs(including the 2500:1 contrast ratio) minus one DVI port, not a deal breaker really. Trying to check up on the LCD's i couldnt find them on the usa acer site so i checked the global one and bingo!. Seems the P series is maybe of the higher end of the ACER selection, There is also a 21 and a23 just like your 41 and 43 but the link specs them both the same in each size so i dunno the difference. Happy with this screen though minimal back light bleeding only really visible when the monitor is on and no signal is present. blacks are nice in movies, havent had any noticable ghostin in ep2, portal, bioshock and most important no banding. oddly enough though the acer P series isnt on that list from the WSGF link, wander what panel i got?

looking more into it.. theres apparently 2 versions on the market... but i'm not sure which i'm getting...
I guess i'll find out when i've received it... to bad the order was placed already and had been shipped... if all else fails, and i'm not happy with it, i can return it (or at least should be able to, but being a special order.... might be sticky) Was starting to get into a bind and needing monitor ASAP.. I'm emailing samsung as well, according to thier site, it's a full 8bit per color display, Course the masterlist could be wrong as it doesn't state the same specs as what samsung lists for it... which some of the older versions state a 300cd where as the 2nd or (newer one) states a 400cd I guess i'll find out.. From ALL The reviews around the web, i simply didn't find a single one that declared it a horrible monitor.... course i tend to not use comments from youtube as a way to gauge, as typically you can always find something on there where a bad case has made it through and usually is isolated... Perhaps i'll take some snaps... compare it to the Dell 3007's abilities.. The reason i was more inclined to get the samsung model was because it was within the price range affordable, it was extremely bright and had a high contrast ratio, and was going to blow the Acer 22" 1680x1050 TN panel that she had previously, outa the water.

It is an 8-bit display, TN doesn't necessarily mean that it isn't.

i'm just confirming..
i know a TN panel doesn't nessarly mean 6bit and dithering being used.... but any "BAD" review i've seen says it's a 6bit dithered TN panel that looks like crap.. we'll see

I dont know of any 8bit TN panels in circulation... A good way to tell if its a TN panel if its 2-4ms.... 6-8ms is usually a VA panel, and IPS is usually in the realm of 8-16ms not 100% accurate, but its usually a good way to tell what your working with.
