Get a P5KSE asus motherboard... they pack what anyone would really need.... dirt cheap to.... work very well... includes realtek ALC883 on it as well.. big bonus there

just a FYI... for those looking for a cheap but damn decent motherboard... (intel 775)

Micron D9GMH chips baby, Crucial is THE company to buy from for the best memory. the low end OCZ sticks use Elpida chips or something that suck.....

P.S. the Micron D9GMH chips are what OCZ uses in their FlexXLC 1150Mhz memory and other high end sticks

another P.S. ChaosMinionX and JustLearnin our ex Intel Super Modified and current Intel Pro Stock winners use sticks based off of D9GMH

another good DDR2-1066 2x1G memory kit, G.Skill F2-8500CL5D-2GBHK.

i have one of this memory kit when it first showed up many months ago and find this memery runs very well under Intel P35-based motherboard.
it's quite a strong Micron D9 based DDR2 memory modules, it's an exceptional cool running memory at high volts, it can be used at low volts as well.
at the present time, it has a very reasonable price tag.

here below is some info and memory overclocking and test results if you interest it.

G.Skill F2-8500CL5D-2GBHK - XtremeSystems Forums

and if you are going to use Vista x64 and want to use 4GB of RAM system... check out this memory kit...

G.Skill F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ DDR2-1000 2x2G memory kit.

i'm interested in buying it and to replace my 4 GB of RAM system and see how this kit work myself.
it's a non-Micron D9 based memory mudules, this kit seems to run very cool and use low volts for overclocking a little.

here below is some info about the memory kit.

[MemoryReaction] G.Skill F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ - Low in cost, high in speed! - XtremeSystems Forums

[Photos] 4GB G.Skill F2-8000CL5D 4GBPQ 5-5-5-15 - i4memory.com

btw, i have my own reasons to use G.Skill products. i'm not advertise to marketing G.Skill products.

another kit with D9GMH man.... i recommend not getting the 2x2GB sticks Panging mentioned, you can always load your system with 4 sticks of Crucial BallistiX or G.Skill 2GBHK, theyre good sticks and good companies, i used G.Skill RAM before, it was awesome!

with D9GMH you can do some insane OCing on the Quad Core

with 1GBx4 on some motherboards, there will likely be more difficulty in overcloking and at the same time run the system memory at high speed (at DDR2-1000MHz and above) than 2GBx2.

even you have a good overclocker DDR2 DRAM chips, but with 1GBx4, it will be more difficult to overclock that chip.

I use the 7950 gx2, it seems ot keep the frame rate the exact same in 3dmark 05 and 6 even pumped up 100 mhz and it messes up the fan control as well. I don't understand why,.

the 7950GX2 has a long, long history of being absolute garbage for the dollar.... now even the budget cards beat it....

just toss it, your getting a new system anyway

Eh, the 7950gx2 was very expensive, but not a slow card. It was the fastest of the previous generation and I doubt a 8600 would be as fast.

I am getting the three new components of my system, not a new vid card.

With my current system, Crysis does not run half bad at all , with all very high settings. Bit of pauses and things, but the frame rate is acceptable.

With my newer system I can't wait to find out how it runs.

It seems my fan on my Vid card does not automatically speed up when it's on load. Don't know why.

Is there an issue with OC'ing this vid card I have?

Download Rivatuner and use the setting to let the program deal with the fan setting. Just don't forget to tick where it says to load at startup.
I had the same problem and the program solved it for me.

I have it at 92% all the time and no problems under idle (noise) or full game marathon (temperature). Either do something similar or let the program decide its own setting on the fly.

The Asus P5K-E costs only $15 more but has a better chipset (P35) has a 16 lane PCI Express slot and is just far more future-proof

If your going to buy a cooler than better you get a quality thermalright like this:

Thermalright Ultra-120 $59.99

Of course you would need a decent 120mm fan like a Scythe S-Flex or Noctua model. Dont forget to use Artic Silver for better transfer whichever one you choose.

System Specs

the ASUS P5E x38 is alot better to get due to the PCIe 2.0 specifications and advanced crossfire capabilities if you ever need them

the X38 chipset is more advanced and is better for OCing it is Intel's extreme series chipset vs P35 which is Intel's mainstream chipset

the coolers the Nirvana and the Thermalright are good, the thermalright being the better more than likely, but i never seen hard reviews of them together.

the Nirvana scored top cooling in every single test of every modern heatsink except the thermalright heatsinks, they werent in the test bed

the nirvana is cheaper too.

while the 8800GTX is a good card, i highly suggest finding a place that has 8800GTs they are more overclockable than GTXs or Ultras. its a worthwhile find especiaally with the Nvidia 780i if you wanna go for that in a few months. you can buy 2 8800GTs for the price of 1 8800GTX so i suggest taking a look around
