My future PC, how much would it score in 3dmarks06?
I am interested in this site, since I see here's a lot of experts in hardware.
So I will let it on a test.
Around how much would this setup score in 3dMarks06?
Motherboard: P5KC
Processor: Q6600
RAM: PC2-8500 2GB (2x1 GB) 1066 mWh
Graphic card: 8800 GTS 320 MB
Harddisk: T166 400 GB 16mb Cache 7200 rpm
PSU: 550w
And a 20x dvd +/- driver
Hope you guys could help :P

47... Marks? ;p
Dude you can't ask a question like that becuase every 3DMark score is different, you could make 2 rigs with those specs and the scores could be totally different.
Hey, better idea... Build the rig, and run 3DMark and you'll have a perfect measurement of your score...

Well I get 8800 with my cpu and I've seen guys with 6600's get around 10,000.
3dmark means absolutely nothing these days so worry more about how it would perform in games.

You buy that machine only to have a better 3dm06 score than your friends or what?
3dmark scores are the last thing I would worry about.

No, what I use 3dmark for, is to see a system, to figure out how long my current set up would last over time and in-game fps.
But ok I see you guys tell me that 3dmark is useless.. hmm.. fine.
But what should I choose as software system, Windows XP or Vista Ultimate?
(for gaming)

if you want to "test vista"
buy an oem copy... don't punch in a cd key, run it for 30 days... see how it fairs on the machine..... if things work out, you run into little issues...... decide to activate it or install xp.

Xp for Gaming. Vista is only worth it if you've got an 8800GTX because it's powerful enough to make up for the lower performance in DX10 games.

Cant agree with that, when I was running a single GTS I was still able to game with some pretty impressive visuals bearing in mind im running a 24" monitor at 1920x1200. That was all on Vista.
Vista is about more than just games and DX10 it's an OS and the future whether we wanted it or not. As the years roll on support for XP will dwindle away, you only need to look at nvidia's latest driver releases, vista is 1 or 2 a month while xp seems like an afterthought.
Go with Vista you'll not be sorry dx9 games are pretty much like for like and you'll still be using Vista in 3 years time when your looking at your next gfx card purchase and xp has gone the way of DOS.

Unless you're on a tight budget I definitely recommend getting the 8800GTS 640mb version.

Well it has potential to do above 10K Id say at max you will get 12k depending on if you overclock or not.
And 2nd that on the GTS640... I would even say get a HD2900PRO, its looking very promising.

The PRO is beating the GTS in many benchmarks, and games. Nvidia is supposed to be releasing a driver to counter this, but we shall see. RV670 is almost out Heres the leaked specs.

Ok, I went to see about this 2900PRO graphic card, it got nice scores at Toms Hardware.
But, The only thing is, it doesn't show any 2900 PRO, only 2900 XT.
Is this 2900 Pro a new model? If yes, please show me a shop that sells it.
