Why the hell would you ask that? That has got to be the dumbest thing you've ever said LOL... All the newest games coming in the months are either going to require it, or benefit greatly from it. Why the hell would anyone even upgrade to vista if DX10 wasn't the only OS to get it?

Yes preferably an Antec case. Preferably all from Newegg too.

I've been looking but I've been out of the loop with the new processors and video cards since I've been running a laptop for almost 2 years now with out building a new desktop.

THanks folks. Knowing me I'll buy the wrong mobo or some crap. I've been out of it so long that I know I'll fuck somthing up on my own. Slapping it together is cake.. But all the new Intel processors and stuff confuses me... I miss the P4... rotten bastards took it away from me /grumble

The D blew balls. I just love my P4.. But I guess it's time to move on. Core 2 Duo it is.

Question - currently I run a P4 650 which has the Intel64. I know I can run 64 bit programs. So would me upgrading to Vista 64 be bad or what? (not going to do it just wondering if it's possable and any gain in performance)

And when I get the Core 2 Duo do I want the 64bit version?

Only advantages of 64bit, is if your using more than 4GB of ram....is that on your itinerary?

In comparison to 32bit vista, 64bit vista is snappier imo.

Nope should never go above 4gigs. But if Vista 64 is snappier and runs all the current programs well unlike XP 64, I'd go with that.

I'm looking at the list of Core 2 Duos, christ they even have a Quad Core ...

I'd love a Quad Core but that'd probably screw my budget..

Is there really a major difference between the core 2 duo and quad core?

Ok I just found this

Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor - Retail

That seems like a sick deal, BUT I doubt I'd get the cash in time. But I guess it means I can get a Quad heh.

Quadcore is the way to go.... but I would go with someone thats going to guarantee a "G0" quadcore.... NCIX or ClubIT, TankGuys as well.... these are superior in most aspects to older B3 Q6600 Quadcores....most definitely include a quadcore in that 2grand build.
