Greetings and welcome to DriverHeaven!
I'm not sure which forums you normally hang out on, but, updating motherboard chipset drivers -- and even the BIOS -- is 99 44/100% safe these days. You have an ASUS motherboard and using the Update Utility that comes from ASUS, you have just about as failsafe an operation as there is.
The MAIN thing is to follow the instructions to the letter when updating anything related to the motherboard.
I'd first start with updating the BIOS if there is one. BUT, it's not necessary to update the BIOS if you don't have certain devices installed that require the newer BIOS. So, read through the BIOS versions to see whether you even need to update it.
Next, as for the Drivers for the Motherboard (also called Chipset Drivers) those are as easy to install as the Windows Updates or any other device drivers.
If you're using onboard Audio, or any other onboard device, there will be drivers for those devices. Grab the latest versions and install them.
The best thing for you to do is to go to click the following link, go to the ASUS site for your motherboard, read the instructions and start downloading the files. Save them to a location on your Harddrive and then, if needed, print out the instructions so they'll be handy for reference.

Good luck!
