What Will be Your Next Hardware Upgrade?
I've been wondering just what some of our members are considering in the near future re: a Computer Hardware Upgrade.
By "near future" I'd think sometime in the next 3 - 6 months.
I know one thing I've been giving some serious thought about is an LCD monitor. As much as I enjoy my NEC 21" CRT and my Hitachi 19" CRT, these things are HUGE and HEAVY.
I think a good LCD widescreen monitor would fit the ticket nicely.
So, what do you have in mind for an upgrade not too far down the road?

6 months? Might buy a new mouse, headphones or speakers. That's about it.

I do not plan any upgrades anytime soon, but when the time comes it will be at least something like Zardon has in his profile (well, except for that 8800 gfx...)

6 months is a long time. Probably in that time period.
A new X38 or new SLI motherboard, a Penryn CPU, a next gen Nvidia video card. Those the for sure things.
Just bought a new mouse, keyboard, and videocard waterblock 3 days ago.

New Dell 24" monitor when they release the version with the expanded colour gamut in North America.
New video card when something significantly faster than the 8800 line is released.
New hard drives whenever I run out of space.
Other than that, my motherboard is pretty much maxed out, and should last me about another 3 years.

I probably won't be looking at much for a while, but if I had the loot, I'd go with a card in the DX10 variety. Probably an 8800gts or something, maybe even hold off for the next gen cards (8900). I'm probably waiting for a lucky christmas for something like that though. Other than that, I'm still pretty happy with my system.

Probably nothing. I'm eyeing CPU+mobo+RAM prices but can't be sure of when I'll having the cash. The prices are right already but I'm not exactly hurting either so if I can hold up 'til next year I'll be all the more happy about making the move. Just maybe I might get me a Canon LBP-5000 color laser printer as it seems to be a nice budget deal for color.

hopefully everything. (famous last words)
c2d , pci-e, sata2, but maybe keep hold of the psu.
I'll be most disapointed if I don't have the above in the next 6 months or so.

Video card. I'm so impressed by the 8800GTS that I might grab one unless ATI can sway me.
I was going to buy a PS3, but after Sonys nice price drop con job... they can keep it.

Should be the same as the non-HC version, so 1:1 pixel mapping and all.
This is the panel used, from what I can tell.
This thread has some useful imformation regarding video modes and input.

PCI-E 2 should be available on the next wave of graphics cards, I wouldnt plan it on die shrinks if the 2 companies decide to do so, but the very next generation of chip they make will be. X38 will be the first board I believe supporting PCI-E 2

yeah, that's a helluva card for the money. I just got back into playing games, and every time I see a review of one of those I find myself looking round for things I can sell to raise the cash (The graw2 demo told me the only thing not compatible was my vid card sniff)
