UPS question really need help.
I have a Belkin Regulator Pro Gold Series 650VA. I am waiting on a new battery to be shipped to me. Hopefully will have it in a week or so.
I didn't even think of the fact that it might not work if I take out the old battery and trash it. I took the battery out while the unit was still plugged in so I didn't notice anything wrong, until today when the power went out. I tried turning it back on, and it won't. Do you think this is because there is no battery in it anymore? I tried finding the old battery, but Dad had already tossed it. Is this normal behavior for an UPS to not power on with out a battery? It's getting a good supply of power, with no wireing faults, etc. It just won't power on. Does this sound normal? Should it work once I put the new battery in it? Any tips are appreciated. |

er.... it's really hard to say, the unit should have went nutz if you had unhooked it while it was on... actually i'm slightly serprised you didn't get shocked or something while it was on... (slight chance)...
Unfortuneatly, there is a chance either way, only way to find out is to plug the new one in and cross your fingers (and of cousrse, power it off and unplug it when you do this)

I had a UPS 500 and while I took the power off before removing the Battery I tried to use it as a power strip and it would not cooperate, worked once I got the battery though. We have a "Batteries Plus" chain out here and they had generic replacements in stock cheaper than ordering, and a lot faster.

It probably won't turn on because the self test immediately reports no battery, so it thinks its a failure and doesn't work.
