Intel Cpu's Proved To Run Hotter Than Amd's !!!
Intel CPU's pump out considerably (up to 20% more) heat than AMD CPU's under normal operation

I was under the impression they where always hotter.....just they could handle the heat better than AMD

No reat the amd vs intel threads in warzone people are saying that amd chips are much hotter the intel and have huge heat problms becouse of it |

I know that P4s have clock throttling to prevent the chip from frying itself... do any of the Athlons have this feature? I'm not meaning this in a sarcastic, flamebait sort of way.. I'm really curious.

Thermal Throttling has always been part of the Pee4, if the chip starts to get to warm ... the clocks degrade (as does performance) With an Athlon there are no thermal throttling functions... Just keep in mind that AMD has a list of approved HSF cooling systems for a reason... Under normal operation an Athlon XP (T-Bred, and Barton) stay very cool... MUCH cooler than the previous Thunderbird processors... I had a copper cooler with a Delta 60mm screamer sitting on it.. and still got temps of around 45*-48*C and peak temps of 57-59*C Pretty insane ... considering that my Palomino 1600+ @ 1943MHz is still running cooler than that old TBird 1400 @ 1640MHz ... Less voltage is the key, less voltage means less heat. Things are always improving with AMD... One of the many things that I really love about AMD... they never are standing still. But everything still runs on a SocketA platform.
Things are about to change ... but how long has AMD been using the SocketA platform ... I actually did a slight modification to a DFI AK76-SN motherboard (one of the first DDR motherboards available) and had my 1600+ purring away ... AMD761/686B motherboard being pushed along by a Palomino AMD Athlon XP ... something that motherboard was never intended to do.

The option is available on most nForce2 boards. I leave it at 50%, but I'm not sure if the cpu itself supports it  |

Thanks. I wasn't sure if they did or not, and since I've had a history of cooling problems, I'm a little nervous when it comes to these high speed CPUs. This option gives me some peace of mind.
