any dell 991 19" monitor owners here?

I just picked up this monitor last week and so far am really disappointed. Not sure if its really as bad as I think or if its just that my 19" LCD samsung has spoiled me forever with CRT monitors.... Anyhow, does anyone here have this monitor? if so, I'd really, really like to have your opinion of it. And as what color scheme you use (if any)? and ask what your brightness and contrast are set to? and if you have to change all settings once you go into a game as it goes waaaay dark?? I have to lighten it way up in game then when I come back out to desktop its way bright and washed out and have to adjust back down again. Is that normal for this monitor? Help?!?!

Yessuh, proud owner of one right here Color scheme? Um... I just use the 9300K setting. For games, yes, it does get suprisingly dark, so for games I have contrast at 100 and brightness anywhere from 30 to 50, for normal desktop, brightness is ideally at 15 or so. It's a damn good monitor compared to other CRTs, so I guess you just got too used to an LCD

so you just run up the brightness in game and run it back down once finished? I'm running winXP and r9700 pro and in CP under color I think I can click to add a scheme. There is listed there a trinitron compatible one. Wonder if its worth messing with?? I just thought really though that I had a crap bum monitor by going so dark in MOHAA and then adjusting up but then being so washed out at desktop..... Toshiro, thanks for posting m8!!!

YEP!

I have the 991. But my games are extremely bright. I have the contrast at 100, and the brightness at 0, and they are still brighter than they should be. I guess I got used to it.

You guys talking about the M991, or is this a different model? I have the M991 and I love it!

Well, the brightness and contrast seem to be relatively uneffective... Besides that the monitor is great except for glare issues which of course happens with all non-flat screen CRT's.

I take that back MOHAA is perfect. It and Warcraft III are perfect brightness wise. Of course you can always adjust the in game brightness.

BF1942 seems to be the worst.

nope mine is the P991... just bought it.

and I am using dual monitors with 19" LCD. Even though I set CRT as primary monitor, in game brightness setting adjusts my LCD secondary monitor and NOT my primary CRT

I'm running a M991 on my Dell, but I can't seem to find the correct driver for it. Hunted the web for ages, but no joy. In my device manager it shows as a 'Default monitor'. Does yours show as a M991 in the control panel, and if yes can you point me in the direction of a driver down-load. Thank you..

BWX will become famous soon enough
System Specs

This whole entire thread is EXACTLY why I am going to miss my gf4ti4200-- Digital Vibrance is the most under appreciated feature of Nvidia drivers. Without it my games and desktop just don't "pop" off the screen like they do when its on. I'm gonna love the speed of my new ATI, but I am not going to like the absence of DV or something simular.

I have a Flat 17'' CRT with a built in anti-reflective and anti-glare screen. You should at least try these color settings, I noticed it helped one day when I spent hours trying to get it just right.

---Shuki--
It sounds crazy, but try this:
*user level color control and set them all (R,G,B) to 85% or higher- try 100% and see what it looks like.

*contrast 100%

*brightness 10% to 25% set afteryou adjust color to highest setings that still look right.

---worked for me before I had mt gf4 w/ Digital Vibrance.

*and if there is a video level adjustment make sure it is on .7v and not 1.0v-- that makes my screen dark when set wrong.

Actually, if I tinker properly with my software gamma settings in my games, I don't need to do anything to the brightness, but for some games where it is crucial that I be able to see stuff in dark places, I'll turn my brightness way up so I get more contrast between darker colors...

??? I need the geometry settings for the P991 Can you help me?

I changed my geometry settings and then realized my reset button does not work. Can someone email me either the original factory presets or just your current config. I would greatly appreciate it. kendall_southern@hotmail.com
