try running Yukon Windows diagnostic tool, and may be you can find some info that helps you fix the problem.
no direct link to download it, but it should be available at marvell.com/

Can get it to works, whines about driver missing and card not installed..

Anyway a static IP solved the problem, I guess my new ADSL2+ router and Vista doesnt like each-other.

i think if the drivers installed on the system is very new (likes version 10.14.x.x) then when you first start the program you will get the device driver for the adapter is not installed warning message, and it'll disable the current connection, however the diagnostic test should still be able to perform, no?

if it works okay with static IP... try resetting the router or try using a different hub connection.

come to think of it again i think i know what the problem is, but i'm not sure if i can help you much since this is about Vista's registry... once you updated the device's firmware the system detects a new adapter...
check your Device Manager and see if there is a duplicate network adapter showed up there.

yea I downloaded it I'll try it out soon, the problem has reduced dramatically by deleting the reg key, but not fully. I also hope this is the correct firmware update for the P5B Deluxe, I'm not exactly sure ATM what rev. of the board I have. Gotta check it out, Gigabyte has a much better support page than ASUS. Should of gotten Gigabyte instead haha, they are dependable boards as well.

BiGBrOwNPimpsta,
the rev.1, rev.2, rev.3.3 things you see on the thread that i started are specifically meant for the Gigabyte's motherboards.

and also, even though, as i have seen, some ASUS P5B Deluxe users at the TechNet forum said that they tried the Yukon's firmware updates from Gigabyte's web site, but they probably don't know that the firmware is not only made for the Marvell Yukon xx8056's, but the contain of the "eep.bat" was also created specifically for Gigabyte's, and this when i last checked the contain of eeprom's and the eep.bat files that's available at the Gigabyte's web pages at the time,
the eeprom file itself was for Yukon xx8056's device alright, but the "eep.bat" was wrote for updating the Subvendor-ID of Gigabyte.

so that, i think you ought to check with your board maker before you want to try it.

Vista seems to have problems with some non-microsoft DHCP servers / services, it's explained in technet and there is also a two part solution, offcouse I only tried the first one

But anyway, it works now, so I'm gonna leave it at that.

this problem is still happening I'm on hold with ASUS atm... I will doubt I will get any progress.

I want to see if there is a marvell yukon update. PCI ethernet cards are the best for the most I'd say. But thanks to the design I have no more PCI slots left. I can also blame my choice of a godly video card also

these guys are so lost, I was disgusted with creative tech support but these guys are worse. They just say hello, uhh, and sound fucking stoned. The upper level technician was better but was pretty silent. My ISP has 20x better support...not what I was expecting from the top mobo manufacturer. I feel sorry for the people with a whole laptop from there.

well I said fuck it and deleted the whole iastorV reg folder instead of just parameters. I'm gonna try and see if it will hang. It's so hard to reproduce the issue.

well i guess i solved it? i dont know if it was the recent intel cpu microcode update... or most likely i reinstalled the matrix storage manager, the reg keys were recreated and i deleted those mofos OUT OF THERE! i get no more lockups. only on wow does it slightly trip for 1 second time to time when loading between towns in flight (which is common)

i dont have it installed... but its pretty standard results that you see anywhere. im not too impressed with my raptor after seeing the new WD Caviar SATAII hard drives being cheaper, almost same performance and huge loads of space. my caviar has a slow transfer rate for some reason, it just barely goes over 150mbps. but my seagate is fine. nothing huge but eh

I have 4 new SATA2 caviars, they dont even compare to Raptors in general performance and gaming.

WD Raptor 150gb (1500ADFD) vs WD Caviar SE2 5000AAKS

Raptor is on the LEFT, Caviar SATA2 is on the RIGHT

As you can see the Caviar has better burst. and comprable sustained read....

But where the raptor really shows is random access time
and it has almost no CPU utilization at all
