for those of you who are looking for 400 MHz RAM...
i have noticed that most websites have them REALLY expensive... i got my 512 megs of it (well i haven't GOTTEN it yet... but i ordered it...) for a mere $69... free shipping at www.buyaib.com so you guys should go there and check out the prices for a bunch of the stuff... other sites are www.googlegear.com, www.shentech.com, www.nexthardwareshop.com, www.svc.com, www.outpost.com (of course) and there are others i just can't think of them. i am sure others will put some sites in this thread.

General. I think people are looking more for PC3500 then they are for 3200. But yes, you make a good point.

buyaib is a scam site and nothing but a scam site
they will sell you ram that is not what you order but hide the fact until later
they will also sell you video cards and tell you they are the retail model but instead be the LE models
trust me i have done business with them and its nothing but headaches and rip offs

to driveEuro the first time: yes but thats only 256 megs... i am talking about 512 megs for like $90 to Crash the first time: i will have you know i have bought RAM from buyaib before and it worked fine. i have also bought a dvdrom and a video card and a sound card from thim. The sound card and dvdrom both still work... and the video card is in my parents room. so you're wrong... buyaib is NOT a scam site. to DriveEuro the second time: what do you mean? they wont send me poop or anything

oh the ram i purchased from them worked just fine but it wasnt what id ordered.
I ordered samsung PC2700 CAS2 RAM with a heatspreader on it and instead received Micron PC2100 CAS2.5 but couldnt tell that at first since it was under the heatspreader.......the only way i found out was a utility that can tell your manufacturers codes. It would barely even run stable at the 166FSB with any timings other than default and CAS2.5 or 3.
And as for the video card it also worked just fine but I had ordered a radeon 8500 retail oem which meant clock speeds of 275/275 and it even stated those speeds on their website but the one that I received was clocked at 250/250 and the core would go no higher than 255 so needless to say i sent both items back to them and it was a hassle with them at first saying that since they had redesigned their website that I had no way to prove that they had been wrong and they laughed and said that if i even tried to get a claim against them there is no traces of the other website and crap like that
basically they are vultures and thieves........and while you may not have had bad luck with them yet trust me you will at some point
They will sell you an item that is similar to what you ordered but not quite.....it will be something that is a bit cheaper so that way their profit margin is higher......when you get your parts from them make very certain that it is exactly as advertised.

ok well i would assume that what i have is what i ordered (yes, i have gotten my RAM) and i say that because when i tryed to put my old RAM to 150 MHz my computer just wouldnt boot... but this time it got to loading windows before it restarted. So i will just figure that out and be on my way. DriveEuro what should i set the cpu/fsb ratio to? (i.e. 3/3, 4/4, 5/5 etc.)

divider to 5/5, 3/3, 4/4, 6/6 ........ any of them. Don't forget, you have a palamino... SO here's when you are screwed. To get the best performance you run ram at 200mhz and the CPU synched with it at 200..... But cuz you aren't unlocked you can't do it... Palamino can't run 2600mhz.... Won't happen. You need to unlock that mug. You can just run the ram at 400mhz and the CPU at 133... But you won't see any performance better than what you used to get on your PC2100. Bottom line: unlock the CPU.

crap... crap crap... crap crap crap... i dont have any conductive paint... i know my dad wont get me any because he doesnt want me to overclock... but if i do unlock then i can goto 2.6 GHz right? the only reason i ask is because you say that a palamino can't run at 2.6 GHz at all... also right now i have the FSB at 147 with a X13 multiplyer (since i can't change it) and the processor is running at only 1.9 GHz... i did see 300 extra points in 3dmark03... but just now i went back to my computer to check up on it and it was frozen so i just decided to screw it and i am going to probably not overclock... at least not now. like we all know i dont have a big budget so i dont need to fry my processor or my ram or anything and then not be able to RMA it... so i'd just rather wait a while.

Hell, no you won't even touch 2.6.... Ha, you prolly could do 2000 at the most... That would be damn hard to do too. You can go to an autoparts store. Buy a "rear window defogger kit." It fixes those black lines that run along your rear car window. That's what you need, it'll be less than 10$. Hell maybe even 5$. From the kit the only thing you need is the small bottle of rust colored stuff. If you have more questions ask someone else... I'm out for the evening. Later.

Yeah, that's a good thing. I'd do it. I'm gonna make my sister a rig (she needs one) and just for future investment and all that I'm gonna buy her a 2100B so I won't have to replace that processor for a long time.
