OS error

My friends PC has just begun this error -

it displays 'error loading operating system' on the startup screen one before the windows logo.

He's got XP (Pro i think) and has been told by some people it is something to do with his HDD being full beyond the limit of his BIOS \ Mobo limits.

Is there anything he can try - he has ALOT of work on there so something none memory destructive please. Is there a way of taking the info from his HDD using my machine without a format?

Cheers for any help

I dont know if this will work but you could try taking his HDD out, placing it in yours as a secondary hard drive. Make some space, then move it back to his?

Or just try to reinstall or repair windows on his computer.

No. Just make sure the jumper is changed to make it the slave. thejumper settings are shown on the hard drive or on the manufacturers web site.
