Ahhhhh - Some advice...

Oh man guys my mind is gonna pop. Let me explain as short as i can.

1) I build comps
2) My friend Knows i build them
3) he loves my Rig
4) His blew up(so he says)
5) So ticked he tossed it in the garbage( This after he beat the thing with a hammer)
6) He called me up and needs a rig NOW
7) He doesnt want to wait for me to have time to build one
8) He needs it now

Yeap thats pretty much it, he wants my Rig...NOW..... tomorrow we negotiate a price. haven't chomped numbers yet, but will be hefty for what i have...

But that still isnt my dilemma... Ok here it is..... I wont have a rig for a day or too till I get stuff from Newegg....OMG, how will I survive.

And im trying to decide which way i will go.... Ive Been a AMD fan for years now...but them Duo cores look juicy from Nvidia.... And a 8800GTX...whooooo

As you can see from my specs I have a 8800 GTS and a pretty hefty MOBO in the AM2 setup with a X2 5200.....So im trying tio decide to up the power and go for an Intel now, or stick with my 5200 and another 8800 GTS

Wanted to ask you guys on your thoughts.... AMD or Intel - 8800GTS or 8800GTX ....

anyways, just wanted to share.... Making comps for people is a nice deal, I have so many of these types of deals.

Heck my current rig is only 2 months old!!!!!

Thanks for the ear yall......

EDIT - Just saw a E6400 at newegg for $222.00 - How does this compare in your opinion to the 5200. Ive been out of the Intel side for so long now

Dude, set an amount of money you are willing to pay, then choose parts and don't go over the limit.
From what I hear Intel has the upper hand right now in CPUs.

Yeah your right brah...ive chilled some in my thinking...

This is what I think im gonna do...

Im always wanting the best of the best....so when opportunities such as this arrise i love it....

I just remembered i have another GA-M59SLI-S5 MOBO that i decided to keep instead of sending back when i had a client stiff me for a job.....

So now im thinking..

My Mobo supports a FX-62, which I see at Newegg for $389.00... So right away I can save soem bucks staying with AMD.... As for my 8800 GTS, no I love the card....except for the crap drivers....its one helluva beast. So i think ill stick with that.... I have cases here also....so all Ill need is a new CPU, A new 8800 GTS, and 2 Gig Of DDR2.... Oh and unless i can dig up a PSU, ill need that too..... he kept his HD thank god, so its just a matter of swapping for him..Ill of course will do a fresh instal of ultimate.

So yeah, this is what im thinking right now to do...

Thanks Brah.....

sounds like you already have a good plan on buying the new Athlon 64 FX. and that would give your friend an opportunity too, since he will have some of your computer components. am i right or what? your friend seems to have a good friend indeed.

Not completely..im tossing around a few ideas....

Ok the Deal went down.... and im on a cheapo right now writing this.

What i want to know, as ive been a AMD fan for years now..... simply put...

whats better all around

the fx-62 or a e6600

right now newegg has the e6600 for 100 less than the FX, but price isnt the factor

I know the scores are better for say 3dmark and all for the 6600..but in the real world, how do these 2 puppies compare.

thanks
