IBM P275 monitor-
IBM P275 21" FD Trinitron CRT with DVI+VGA input.. Maximum resolution: 2048×1536@75Hz
$49.99!! (plus shipping and after a $40 rebate) $749 when they came out,.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...p?EdpNo=714276
So basically for around 75 bucks you can own what is arguably the best CRT monitor ever made. I have one coming.. My Samsung 19" 997MB flat CRT will be my second monitor. Actually I also had a 25 dollar gift card for tigerdirect, so it was only $50.
Unit: 68.3 Lbs -- Yes I have a very strong desk.
If you like CRT's, this is a great deal (if you ave the space).

Thse are damned nice monitors. It's basically a Sony GDM 5410 or 5411 and will go to a max of 2048 x 1536 @ 75Hz.
I'd like to get a good 5510 since I like CRT's much better than LCDs.

Yeah especially when you consider the picture quality/ price ratio. I will save the LC D's for the HDTV in the living room.. for the time being.

I got my P260 for $30 bucks. I can't say I've ever had a better purchase.
I think its much the same as yours (specs look identical) except mine's white.
But they are DAMN fine monitors, my only gripe is that it takes some time to warm up if my basement is extremely cold and its left off overnight.

Yup it does take a few minutes to warm up. I am sending this particular one back though. The warranty company said they would send one, and pick this one up at the same time, so no loss of money or time w/o the monitor.
The problem with this is a slight ghosting problem, other than that it is great. It does not have as nice blacks as my Samsung 997MB (19"), and that monitor also has dynamic contrast ration (the MB, magic bright) which is amazing in games and movies, but still, the size of this 21" IBM monitor makes gaming at 1600 x 1200 @ 100hz refresh rate pretty amazing- even in it's current condition. I think one in perfect condition will also be brighter overall too, but I'm not sure about that. Even though I am sending this back, and it's a bit of a hassle, I am still glad I bought it.

Nice deal for the monitor - but shipping to my home would run $50.00 - much higher if the unit didn't come in just under UPS's shipping weight limit of 70lbs! - and they charge tax in my state, so my delivered price is 130.79 (after waiting for and receiving the rebate of $40.00) - still a great bargain though...

Yeah it's a good deal still.. I wouldn't have gotten it if I didn't get around paying tax.
I sent mine back last week, they sent a UPS driver to my door for free (to me). I should be getting the new one soon. Even with the small ghosting issue it had a beautiful picture, but I decoded to get one that was perfect since it wouldn't cost anything extra.
I haven't been on my PC much after that 52" Aquos was delivered though. Damn that thing is amazing.

Geesh! I just paid $449 for a Viewsonic G225FB - 21" ShadowMask CRT that does 2048x1536 also.
It's not as good as my P225, which cost me about $800 back in the day. The G225FB is a tad fuzzy around the edges - I guess it's the different anti-glare stuff and the "PerfectFlat" glass. But it is still pretty decent for the money.
Still, my P225, with the old rounded glass and a less effective anti-glare coating, is what I prefer.

Is it an Aperture Grille or Shadow Mask?
Thanks
I know that for my eyes, Aperture Grille is uncomfortable. I can see all the little "shimmering" that happens and the horizontal stabilizer lines annoy the crud out of me. Shadow Mask seems much easier to my eyes.
But I know of others that totally swear by Aperture Grille.

It is an aperture grille type monitor. I believe it uses the Sony tube.
This was an informative review by a guy who bought one.. I agree about the corner sharpness especially. My other monitor (the Samsung in the pics above) is the other kind of monitor (shadow mask). It has it's strengths too, but this IBM is just great for gaming. 1600 x 1200 (or higher) @ 100hz is soooo smooth. I wish it had dynamic contrast like the Samsung, that is also great for gaming and movies, and even the desktop at it's medium setting. On this monitor those lines are barely visible, only on certain brightness levels, and even then only sometimes. I thought it would drive me nuts but it really doesn't. Maybe if it were a smaller monitor it might, I'm not sure.

Summary:
For those of you who do not know, there are two basic types of cathode ray tubes (CRT'S), Shadow Mask and Aperture Grille. A Shadow mask is basically a plate with holes punched through it. An aperture grille is a system of wires running vertically and horizontally across the tube. Of the two, the aperture grille is more expensive to construct, and is generally capable of higher resolution. It is definitely less prone to loss of sharpness in the corners. (SM Plates can warp from heat) The two hardly discernible gray lines running horizontally across an aperture grille monitor are support wires. They are necessary for the structure of the tube. This monitor is an aperture grille type, and as such, It is heavy as hell. It is also sharp as a tack. It is worth every cent. This monitor is the best deal I have ever come across, Bar none. I bought two. One word to buyers. Corner fringing can be removed with on screen tools

I can't complain about aperature grille monitors either... I had a shadow mask one but I sold it pronto... I hated the 'feel' of it on my eyes

It's wacky how different eyes need different things for CRT monitors.
Maybe LCD's will effectively change all that.
