Help! Help doesn't work!
I have recently noticed that none of my help menus seem to work. And it has nothing to do with that Help and Support service. I tried enabling that and even put it on Automatic and rebooted...no go. When I click Help>Help Topics or Help>Contents and Index or any other help menu, it simply does nothing! The only help menu that works is the one in My Computer that says Help and Support Center, and that starts just fine. I just don't get it. And it was fine a few days ago....

re
if XP has Hhctrl.ocx
Run.. Regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\Hhctrl.ocx to register the file.
and see what kind of message for dllregister... failed, error or succeeded
if failed or error then the file is damaged

That file doesn't exist. The only close files to it are:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache\hhctrlui.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mui\0009\hhctrlui.dll

Screw it! Format and reload when you put your new board in.

HELL NO! I just transferred my perfectly tweaked windows setup from my 40gig to my 120gig and I'm still keeping it on the 40gig for now till I install my new mobo and processor and everything is working fine. I won't ever start over again. That's just retarded. And it's just dumb help fuck it, I don't need help. But, it would be nice to fix it without reinstalling windows.

Chill out first man!!! I only recommended it because either A. your missing a file or B. your registry is hosed. I knew you was going to be installing a new board soon and you might not be able to use your tweaked setup anyway. You might be able to fix it by doing a recovery w/ a copy of XP w/ the latest SP.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! I guess my pothead ass is not a total waste. Thanks a lot guys, without you I would not know the filename to look for. All I did was I typed "Hhctrl.ocx file missing" on my address bar (google) and I found a website telling me of a microsoft help install utility called "HHUPD.EXE". So I went to microsoft's website and I found it. Then, I downloaded it and instead of clicking on it, I just right-clicked and selected "Extract Here"-WinRAR option- and when it extracted, the file was there! I checked it against what u gave me and everything matched except the date. So, anyways, I copied this file to my system32 dir and guess what?! Help Works!!! I opened up all these apps and tried it in all of them. It works, it works, it works!!! YES!!! What really gets me though is how would I be missing the file in the first place? A virus maybe? I do have an anti-virus program (NAV2003) and I do check for virii pretty often so I just don't know. Oh, well at least it works! This post may help someone in the future though so that's good.
