rolleyes What the F*CK is wrong with me? I think I just bought a V5.

Yup, saw it on [H] for $48us shipped and just had this 'gotta try a piece of history!' kind of rush going and the next thing I knew I'd posted that I wanted it.

Anyone know anything about this semi-mystical, (well, at least to me) card? What should I be expecting?

(BTW-This is NOT an upgrade, I'm gonna be adding it in to me father's rigs repair bill since I got such an excellent deal on a complete system for him and it still needs a viddy card....but I think he'll be getting the son's GF2 MX400... )

v5 6000 or v5 5500? I love my v5 6000, its still capable with most of todays games too, 128MB ram, 4 183mhz chips, 1.4 gigapixel fill rate.

I don't know, it doesn't say. All it gives is "-3dfx Voodoo5 AGP (like new with PERFECT BOX) >> $48 shipped. ", which was enough to trigger me alarm bells and get me all crazy.

What's the difference?

Don't you have to provide an extra power source to it too?

I remember reading that you had to plug those things into the wall too.

ONLY?!?! What's the 6000 got? (Did I mention this was just a weird impulse buy from hell? )

(BTW-I ain't giving the money away, I'm getting a bit-o-history! )

EDITED BITS: Put "rolleye" instead of "rolleyes", went back and changed. (Does anyone else hand code all their formatting since they added the quick reply box? )

V5 well its a piece of history for sure, nice to look at but not much good for newer games..no hardware T&L and such..if ya have some older flight sims or games that are glide only, cant be beat i have F16-MultiroleFighter from Nova Logic and Mig29 Fulcrum... these games are awesome on the V5

Cool! V5 5500 -> MINE!

Yes, it's only the 5500...but I don't think I'm gonna be finding a V5 6000 for under $50us. (I finally went and did me homework. )

Actually, it should be fun to see what this thing actually will do in games on Bubbles. All the reviews I were looking at were back when the PIII800 was top dog. (So I know how it'll perform in Blue pretty well. )

I look forward to it's 4xAA, 'sposed to be sweet. And the guy I'm getting it from has offered to burn me some demos to play with.

Besides, I'm still a hardcore SoF nut at heart...I hear it plays a pretty mean game of that along with me other fave UT.

One BIG thing I'm sort of really curious about now is if it even runs GTA3 or not...

I'm getting it, it's been confirmed. Now it's just a matter of paying for it and getting it shipped and such.

AFAIK a tnt2 will run GTA3, a V5 should "in theory" be able to run it. But i have one word for you: Drivers. 3dfx has been gone since 2000 and that means there aren't any drivers for xp, or only 3rd party stuff. I've always had problems with that.
