RAM question.

Allright im looking to trade in my Kingston 2x512 DDR400 for some DDR2 and since there only one place i can trade it in and pay some money for an upgrade i have to go with this :

DIMM DDR2 512MB, 800MHz takeMS CL5, 64Mx8

Is this good or should i try to sell my ram and than buy a new one somwhere else ?
Im asking this coz i never had TakeMS RAM and i dont know anyone who owned one.

Thx in advance.

TakeMS is a relatively new German company (founded 2002)
I have not heard of them before this. They do not give you a lot of information on their website and CL5 is not the best you can get.

How much are they giving you in trade? You may be able to do better selling on your own.

according to your system specs in the left, you have a s754 A64 machine.....are you doing a whole new system upgrade, or are you just planning on upgrading your RAM? if you're just going to be upgrading your RAM, then the DDR2 stuff will NOT work. It's an entirely different type of RAM.

DDR = 184 pins
DDR2 = 240 pins

if you're going to be upgrading in 3-4 months anyways, just keep what you have. Save that money and use it towards the upgrade later on.

Agreed. PC3200 (DDR400) in your machine is about as good as it gets. Unless you need 2 gigs for something really bad right now, save your money.

dude, vista will be out at the end of January. To top it off, in order to take advantage of all it's features, you'll need a dx10 card; ATM, the only one out is the g80.

so really, you only need to wait 3 months after the final public release of the operating system before your upgrade.

Yea but im already using vista ultimate x64 or almost 2 weeks now and dont plan on going back to xp.
First i argued agains vista but i like it more and more every day.

And vista will work fine with a dx9 card all you need is alot of ram and a good cpu.
