possibly dumb question... possibly not...

"ABIT SoftMenu™
The overclocking function includes CPU frequency, Vcore, multiplier, chipset & DDR voltage and AGP VDDQ voltage adjustment available to maximize your system performance"

ok... for those of you with this mobo or have had it (DriveEuro) does this mean that you dont have to unlock the CPU to change all this? As i said i know that this may be a stupid question... but i was curious

OK. All athlon xp processors are unlocked by default by this motherboard. So with your XP2100 you don't have to do squat. You can change clock speeds without modding the chip.

BUT, with that ram that you have..... You won't be able to overclock too much at all. What brand is the RAM? Generic? If it is generic then you won't go too much faster.... Hell! You won't be able to overclock much at all. XP2100 Palaminos are hot as hell. They can't overclock much cuz they are simply too damn hot to begin with.

Not too hot I hope. Will my Koolance CPU-200G and pcToys Arctic Silver III be enough to cool it down? I read a review on the pcToys Arctic Silver III and it actually decreases the temperature by around 15°F versus standard heat compound. That's pretty impressive!

It CAN drop the temps by 5C. Not everyone will see that type of temperature drop.

General. You have palamino. We went over this. You bought your processor right when I bought my 2100 Palamino. At that time the 2100 T-Bred B hadn't even been released. Well, if it was released I doubt you woulda bought it cuz the 2100B craze didn't come until January.
