SAN DIEGO, CA - March 4, 2003: MAGMA, a leading provider of innovative PCI-based computing solutions, has announced availability of the latest addition to its patented line of PCI Expansion products - the 64-bit 2 Slot CardBus-to-PCI Expansion System, Model CB264.

MAGMA's line of portable CardBus-to-PCI Expansion Systems enable the use of standard PCI cards with PC Laptop or Apple PowerBook computers, all of which do not have built-in PCI slots. MAGMA provides 1-4 PCI slots in a separate enclosure that connects to a laptop through a 32-bit CardBus (PC Card) slot. This solution provides creative professionals a method to use a mobile computer instead of being limited to a stationary and unmovable desktop machine.

In the past, MAGMA's CardBus-to-PCI Expansion Systems have been limited to functioning at 32-bit only. This is due to the fact that the CardBus (or PCMCIA) slot on mobile computers is limited to 32-bit communication. With performance demanding users in mind, MAGMA developed a 2 Slot CardBus-to-PCI Expansion System that allows for 64-bit communication between two PCI cards inside the expansion enclosure. As 64-bit PCI cards continue to become standard offerings from PCI card manufacturers, MAGMA has taken the next step in creating the only high performance CardBus PCI Expansion solution available in the market today.

MAGMA's new 64-bit 2 slot Expansion System accommodates 2 full-length 64-bit PCI cards, two internal disk drives, and includes a 1-meter expansion cable and CardBus PC Card. In addition, MAGMA offers optional SCSI, Firewire and IDE Storage Kits specifically designed for the 2 slot expansion system.

MAGMA has released two versions of the 64-bit 2 Slot CardBus-to-PCI Expansion System. Model CB264 includes an AC Power Supply and Model CB264DC includes a DC Power Supply providing the capability to power the expansion system off of a user supplied battery source.
