PSU's been acting strange

This comp is around 5-6 months old. Its a gateway amd 64 I forgot the actual number.

When I started up my PC today everything is fine but once windows loads up I started hearing a loud sort of whining noise coming from my pc. I ignored it for a few seconds but teh sound started going faster and louder. I shut off my comp and restarted same thing. I opened it up checked to see if any wiring was touching the fans and then turned on my comp. Worked fine I used teh comp for a good 5 minutes but then it happened again. This is my 5th restart and it seems to be working fine now but should I change the PSU just in case?

Unless you missed posting a few steps have you definitivly narrowed it down to the PSU? There is also GPU, CPU, and other misc case fans.

it was definately the PSU. I opened up the case and started up the pc and listened for it and it was coming from the psu. Its weird though because from the time I posted till now I had no problems yet. Im afriad to turn off my comp because I don't want to get that noise again when I start up.

System Specs

Could just be the fan bearings acing funny or being misaligned.

My thoughts as well. I would blow out the case with the air blaster (dust remover) and then squirt some WD40 in the area where the fan connects to the square body. That should take care of the noise for awhile.

P.S. Use the WD40 sparingly!
