Two questions about Monitors

Hi guys!

I´m new here, and have a couple of questions about monitors. Hope you can help me.

First one, I have an 3 year´s old 15 inch Viewsonic CRT. In the middle of the screen (no matter how resolution it get) it have a black dot. Could be a "dead pixel"? In an CRT??

The second and last: Do you recommend LCD´s for gaming (for FPS like BF2 and sims like LO:MAC)?? Last time I asked, the answer is a "no way". But now?

Thanks in advance,
Marcantilan

System Specs

First, did that dot just recently show up? or did it just appear.

and is it semi tranlucent.. or completely Black?

Secondly, LCDs + Gaming = awesome with a good enough LCD.. (don't expect good results from anything cheaper then a 450+ CAD lcd monitor.

If i were to recommend a LCD to try out for gaming. it would DEFINITELY be the ACER AL1951 series (designed for gaming).. which has AMAZING quality and color... blacks are steller to. And bright as all hell. Perfect imo.

Have the completely dot black since 3/4 months ago. Always in the same spot, from the windows start screen till the shut off.

For the other question, do you recommend an 8ns LG???
