modern mobos have sata connectors & there are ide/sata adapters too
by 'plain' & 'simple' you're thinking IDE? & ya gotta get the cabling & jumpers right for it to install right/be detected..... & then there's maxtor vs WD vs seagate vs etc
anwyay do a little browsing & review searching instead of just 'going to get 320gb tomorrow'

I did a little research and found out my mobo (DFI LANPARTY UT nF3 250Gb) Supports four SATA interfaces with speed up to 1.5Gbps now i just need to find one that's a good brand and 320gb. This will be my first Hard Drive that's SATA does SATA have jumpers? or is it just cables. Thanks
EDIT:
I found this one do you think it's ok for the price?

i want a sata myself... but never touched one in my life haha
sata should be just plug it in, turn on comp, & it's recognized... & smaller cable than IDE...
though i'm not sure about 8mb cache on the one you're looking at, dunno if 16mb would be more important..... & of course most importantly, it better last for years hehe
http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/chart...d,26361,00.asp & hard to find anything close to a review.....
& that price on polewaretech looks pretty good for all those gb, but i have no clue about HD prices (my 160gb i got for $130 CDN (with rebates, orig was like 170?) back in august... & 200gb for $200 2yrs ago... those are my only comparisons)

I ordered a SATA 3.0 GB/s from newegg for about $90 (it's $100 now). 8 MB cache though, don't know if that matters to you. Even though you don't have SATA 3.0 GB/s, it'll just run like 1.5. That'll be a keeper if you upgrade your mobo soon. It has worked great for me so far.

Just throwing some ideas out.
If you want me to I could take pictures of it inside my case

Doesn't always work that way, the chipset has to support SATA II, otherwise you'll have to jumper the drive to make it appear as SATA I, and the Seagates will do that - great drives...
If your system locks or doesn't see the drive after you have set the bios properly, here is a pic of the jumper setting...

I've got 3 SATA Seagate drives and they are all fast and quiet. I'm actually in the market for a couple more drives myself and I'm trying to decide between 2 of the new 7200.10 Seagate Perpendicular drives or a couple of the new 74gb wd raptors w/ 16mb cache

Plus, you might have to install drivers for Windows to recongnize the drive. You can get drivers from your mobo manufactuer.
