Novice Pc Owner Needs Help With Upgrading Aaarrrgghhh!!!!
Hi everyone,
I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card from a Sapphire Atlantis Radeon 9600 PRO 128MB Fireblade Edition and i wanted some suggestions if you would be so kind. My processor is a bit old school cos it's an Athlon XP 3000+, i'm running ! Gig of RAM in the shape of two sticks of TwinMOS PC3200 DDR-DIMM 512MB and my motherboard is MSI, i can't recall the exact model but i'm kinda hoping that if my current graphics card is compatible with that board i'm kinda looking for something that will also work with it as i don't want to have to upgrade my mainboard. All suggestions welcome and i've got a bit of cash to spend so don't hold back! The PC is used just for gaming so all i'm looking for is fast performance and eye candy.
Thanks in advance!!!

Welcome to DH
If you are sticking with the same CPU and MB then you might end up looking to a Nvidia solution since they have taken control over what AGP market is left with the 6800GS and 7800GS

Thanks for getting back so fast!, My PSU is 300 Watts, do you think that is sufficient or will i need to beef that up to cope with that card you guys suggested?

If it's a good quality brand it may be enough; which psu do you have, and what are it's specs (voltage ratings etc)? They're on the side of the psu if you're unsure. I'd also suggest the 7800gs btw.
