new HD small problem

just got myself a new 250gb s-ata HD to replace my busted 80gb ide hard drive. this new caviar 16mb cache drive is a little wierd, for some reason when my computer is multi tasking too much stuff starts to screech and pops come from my sound card. i didnt get this on my soundcard before and i used the audigy 4 drivers.

any reason why?

Creative=Problem

Seriously, creatives cards are so finicky with the weirdest stuff, it just doesn't make sense why.

This was actually one of the issues i was having with the X-FI Fata1ity. Pull the plugs on the Sata drives and the weird sound would tone down significantly. (which would seem like a power related problem, but reguardless of the PSU used or Motherboard, it still did it in different tones or pitches)

Have you tried maybe slapping the creative card in another slot.

change the SATA power plug to a different one.

Is the creative card making the sound specifically, or is it the sound coming out of the speakers. Is the sound coming from somewhere else?

Is there anything else sharing the cable that powers the HD?

yea I have another IDE HD on it. the card is fine, drivers are pretty stable. i know you despise creative cards lol. onboard cards all sound like the same crap to me. i need EAX and stuff, and the extra modes since I ain't ballin like to get an optical link to a home theatre haha. AND I CAN DO THAT ON THIS CARD EASILY!

i don't know if its a power related issues since my PSU is 420w I have more than enough... feels more like an IRQ issue possibly.

Man, if that was the problem, I'd really be in a fix.

I have TWO SATA; TWO IDE HDDs; and TWO CD/DVD devices on my rig.

IRQ is what came to my mind as I read your last post. Have you checked the IRQ assignments?

Can you switch the Creative Card to another PCI slot?
