im thinking about getting a antec smartpower 2.0 500w and i was wondering if it will fit in my compaq presario sr1830nx. the deminsions are about 15.35"(H) x 7.17"(W) x 16.54"(D) and i have about 7 1/2" of space for the psu untill i hit the molex connector going into my dvdrw.

if it is a midtower or full tower ATX case (not familiar with presarios) than an ATX power supply should fit

i have a 6200 series presario, and i actually had to get tin snips and cut and drill to make a newer power supply fit. My suggestion to you is to bust out the ol' measure stick or tape and see for yourself. I think with the later model cases however , you can easily fit the power supply. Try and find the size of the power supply and see if it matches up.

honestly, get a new MoBo, and a new case, aside from your PSU you already have in order. that way you won't have to deal with any drilling or anything. it'll just pop right in as soon as you get it all .

oh, but because of the new MoBo, you will need to install windows, and the "recovery disk(s)" that come w/the machine won't work for crap

i dont think ill have to deal with any drilling, because the spot on the case where the psu is has about 8 holes i guess for PSU's with differant screw postions
