Q: is there any possibility that the external drive uses some other way to format or diferent fs(FAT_NTFS)??? I havent'done anything yet because of lack of time.
Just asking before starting to disassembilg and I 'm gonna test in mine box but other brand.

1) If it was a 3rd party box (where you added a hard drive to it) you need to make sure that the hard drive is set to "Master". Most enclosures do not like the default setting of "Cable Select". This is a very common mistake people make btw. . To do so, take the drive out of the enclosure, and hold it with the connectors facing you, power connector to the right, IDE connector to the left. You want to set jumper 7/8, which are the ones closest to the IDE connector). This is the Master selection. Most likely it's set for 5/6 which is Cable Select.
2) As soon as you plugin, and turn on the external drive Windows XP will detect it. If it's not formated it will ask you to do so, and you can format it just as you would if you had added it normally. The best way to do so is through "Disk Management". To access this go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management. On the the left side expand "Storage", and click on "Disk Management". The external drive should be showing up as an unformated disk. On the right side right-click the drive, and make the partition as you see fit. *Word of warning: do not format it as a Dynamic Disk.*
