Any way to tell if CPU will work?
At a local computer parts store, I found an AMD Athlon XP 1900+ processor in a used bin and the guy sold it to me for 50¢ (think he thought it was some old Pentium 100MHz or something. )
There are no bent pins on the CPU.
I don't have any socket A motherboards conviently lying around, so I can't test it.
Is there any way to tell if the CPU is good or not?

nice deal . 50 cents for an xp1900.
see if one of your friends or family members have a socket A MoBo to let you use it for testing purposes really quick. that, or like BWX said, buy a socket A MoBo for 50 cents

I like the way you think.
If you could find a place where Socket A motherboards are under $20 and post a link, I'd be flattered
BTW, I'm only 13, so $50 here and there is a little much for my wallet.

hmm....also forgot to mention to check if the core is chipped in any manner. if it is, then it's also dead. although, you might (very unlikely though) be lucky enough that it's not dead if the core is chipped, or the chip itself is burned.

If it is dead drill a hole in the corner and make a key-chain out of it.

Interesting ideas.....
I'll make a keychain out of it if it doesn't work.
