DVD Drive -- DVD Access Time?

How long does it take your DVD drive to allow you to actually view the contents of a DVD disk?

My Samsung made DVD Writer is taking as long as 2 (TWO) minutes to initialize a DVD before I can actually open the disk to Explore it.

I've gotten the latest Firmware for it, too: TS-11

If I could get mine to provide access in under 30 seconds, I'd be happy.

What it does do is sit there with the blinking light on the front and occasionally the light will go off for several seconds like it's about to turn things over to me. Then, in a few more seconds the light starts blinking again almost like, "Oh, no, not yet, I missed something."

I'm figuring that maybe this one is on it's last spins. If so, it'll join a few other dead drives stashed in a closet.
