headphone output

i've got a couple of questions, not sure if either is possible.

first, i would like to know if it's possible to redirect TeamSpeak\ventrilo voices (and only those voices) to the headphone\sub\center out

if not that if it would be possible to direct winamp to the front outs only and not the headphone\sub\center out

ther other one being if i can make the headphone out bypass the surrounder, so the headphones wouldn't be affected by surround settings, such as bass redirect

thanks for any help i get

If you set Teamspeak to use kX Wave (0/1) for it's output device, and everything else (including Windows) to use kX Wave (4/5), and the conect FxBus(0/1) directly to the epilog (center/lfe) then I think it should work (your probably want to set Surrounder+ to 4.0 mode as well).

You can do a similar setup for Winamp to direct it's output to whatever channel(s) you want.

With kX you can do all kinds of custom routing, but obviously you would want to save the different configs and load them as needed as one config may not work for all situations.

The key here is knowing that (under the default kX Router setup), FxBus(0/1) corresponds to kX Wave (0/1), FXBus(4/5) corresponds to kX Wave(4/5), etc (the kX Wave numbers match the FxBus numbers), and knowing which outputs on epilog represent which speakers.

yea, ti's really useful to route teamspeak to a different channel, maybe i could even find a way to do it to a different soundcard (sounds like it's possible form your post)

since i got my new amp i sorta like to listen to my music loud while playing mmorpg's, but i also like ot talk to my buddies (in game and otherwise) over teamspeak, the only way before to listen to music loud and hear them still was to have them even louder (imagine how the ppl living with me feel hearing a loudspeaker all day basically)

and if i don't find a way to use a different soundcard entirely i will just use 2.0 to my amp and use the amp settings to upmix it to 5.1, gotta have the subs for that good techno\dance (escpecially with the crapyp surround speakers you usally get with home theater setups, good thing i have a pair of full size fronts to help make up for i a bit)

thanks for the help

Yes, using a second soundcard is possible and is how it is usually done (i.e. without kX). I do not remember the specific setup as I never had to use it (I only remember reading about), but it was not hard to do (just a matter of telling Windows which device to use for what, etc). You should be able to find the info on how to do that easily enough, but with kX it may not be necessary (the only issues is that you are obviously losing one stereo channel in your games since you are using one of your soundcard's ouputs for a different purpose, not a big deal if you only have 4 speakers anyway, or if the game is only stereo).

yea, but ym gaem is surroundsound, and i have 5.1, so i either upmix it with my amp, or i lose my sub channel (center isn't that importent, the other way would be to ditch my rear channel's, but i like those too

what i'm wondering now is if i can use 2 very similar cards (sb live 5.1) in the same machine both runnign kx drivers..the only difference i've noticed between teh 2 cards is one can't use more tahn 1 mic program at a time, with that one whatever programs that uses th mic first keeps it (so if i launched teamspeak before my game i would have TS voice, but not ingame voice)

I have never tried to use 2 voice chat programs at the same time, so I cannot comment about that. Additonally, I do not have a multi-card setup with kX, so I am not sure of any potential issues there, but I would think it would work like any other muti-card setup (except with probably more configuration options then would be possible with other drivers). I do not think you should have any problems with using a second sound card.

What I have seen some people do is to use a USB headset for situations like this. Because it is USB it has its own drivers, and is selectable as a sound device under Windows, and thus you can tell Teamspeak to use that, and the game to use your Live card, etc. (I would check the TS forum for any info (i.e. known problems, or recommended headsets if you decide to go that route). Either way, it is the same, 2 soundcards (whether it be USB based or a regular sound card).
