I have Windows XP, X-Fi with latest X-Fi drivers and redocneXk 1.08:
Is there any way to set the ASIO frequency to 48khz? When I start the tool it says: ASIOGetSampleRate: 44100 Hz The Creative drivers though say "48000 Hz", why does the tool detect a different sample rate? The result is a stuttering sound that has a higher key than normal. The GUI version does not work at all. It crashes the most time. |

I got it to work in 48khz. I had to change from the Gaming to the Audio Creation Console and test it there. After I switched back to Gaming (I need Gaming because I need the base redirection / base enhancer) it was finally set to 48khz. But what happened here? The sound quality is really bad. The base is missing as if I would record the sound with a mikrophone in front of the speakers. Ok, nothing else does "what you hear" inside the recording options? Or what am I doing wrong now?

Anyone having problems with this software encoding, should note that Creative Labs sell a realtime hardware encoder : http://uk.europe.creative.com/shop/p...p?product=1114
Works well with any soundcard ! |

I released a new version. It's version 1.09. There was a bug in 1.08. The -o switch to choose the output device did not work. This switch especialy useful in Vista because you need to choose the output device called SPDIF if you want to use a Creative card SPDIF output.
I may have fixed other bugs and forgotten to note them. |

Hey, im having some trouble with this...
my decoder is switching Analogue/Digital and back again, and so-on, every 1/2 second, so its causing a popping sound.. here's the output... Quote:
its really bitty, breaks up, and stutters alot...., and when i do hear some sound, the pitch is incresed... Last edited by Ghozer; Nov 26, 2007 at 10:49 AM. |

The asio samplerate is showing 44100. It should be 48000, otherwise it won't work. There's a setting somewhere in the X-Fi console where you can set this.

Sorry, I don't know what's the problem. I don't have an X-Fi myself so I could never fully test the app with it. It could be an X-Fi specific problem or not.

I have a problem where the audio skipps or gives a loud feedback when i run redocneXk 1.09 or the the gui verson
my settings are: redocneXk v1.09 The avcodec library is licensed under the LGPL. See the included lgpl.txt file for a copy of the LGPL license. Press Q to quit. my specs are: kXproject 5.10.0.3537 drivers Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Windows xp sp2 everythings updated 2.1 sound works fine without it running, could it be something to do with the kX DSP setup, reading your readme file it says Audigy/Audigy2 on Creative drivers mode : FL = asio 4 + asio 12 FR = asio 5 + asio 13 RL = asio 6 + asio 12 + asio 10 RR = asio 7 + asio asio 13 + asio 11 C = asio 8 LFE = asio 9 should the kX dsp reflect that? and put lines from the surrounder to the asioX ones? Thank you for your work |

Armored, you need to change the DSP when using the kX drivers. There's a picture in the first post showing that you need to connect Surrounder to asio 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
I think you'll get feedback if digital only output is not activated. You are not using "Audigy/Audigy2 on Creative drivers mode". You are using the kX ASIO mode. |

i do have it set up just like the picture shows in your first post, asio0 to asio 5 is connected to the surrounder. digital output is enabled and i have a cable from my soundcards digital output to my amp.
well to discribe the feedback it was more like the sound of snow you get from old tvs when you didnt have the cable plugged into it. but i dont seem to get that anymore, the gui no longer does anything but the 1.09 still makes small caps of science in the sound playing. by this combo of kXdrivers and your redocneXk app i will get 5.1 from games like half life 2 right? Thank you for the fast reply |

@Armored
It says that you are using 3537, you might consider trying 3538m or 3539 (there have been many updates since 3537). Last edited by Russ; Dec 2, 2007 at 06:11 PM. |

Have you tried different latency settings in the ASIO Control Panel?
Does AC3 Passthru itself work correctly for you (i.e. playing AC3 content without redocneXk)? |

i.e. AC3 passthrough is seperate from redocneXk, so I wanted to try and determine whether it is an AC3 passthru issue (maybe it is somehow not configured correctly), or a problem with redocneXk (which could be config issues, or ASIO issues, etc). In other words, make sure that you get AC3 passthru working correctly before trying to use it with redocneXk. |

If DVD spdif output to output dd digitally works, it should also work with redocneXk. I'll try to think about it some more.
Try to add "Vol" plugins in the kX DSP between Surrounder and epilog to reduce the volume entering the ASIO inputs in epilog. It's possible that the volume is too high for the encoder. Last edited by Tril; Dec 3, 2007 at 01:02 AM. |

Ok, if the DVD is working then it seems that AC3 passthru is OK, but here is an small AC3 file you can try (just to be sure):
http://www.lynnepublishing.com/surro...round_test.ac3 You should be able to play it in your DVD software (i.e. I can play it in PowerDVD). Make sure that the software is set to output to SPDIF, etc. As far as redocneXk goes: CPU utilization can effect ASIO performance (if ASIO performance is bad, redocneXk will not work well), so make sure you are trying out something simple first (as opposed to some game that may use a lot of CPU power, etc). i.e. Try playing an mp3 (or whatever) and let redocneXk encode that (it doesn't have to be 5.1 audio, as you just want to see if it works without problems, etc). Do you have regular speakers connected to the Soundcard? If so, if you disable AC3 passthru, and let kX decode the AC3 stream, does it play to the correct speakers (taking into account kX's "Toggle Swap Front and Rear" setting (only effects analog outputs))?
Is your receiver set to some alternate mode? Are you still getting no sound at all with redocneXk. sCenter2 is Side Right on 7.1 cards (sCenter1 is Side Left). It is not used unless Surrounder is set to 7.1 mode. Last edited by Russ; Dec 2, 2007 at 11:22 PM. |

i just have a headphone jack to rca cable connected from the digital out on my soundcard to the coaxial input on my amp.
what do you mean regular speakers? if i disable AC3 passthru let kX do the incoding only left and right play, center and the rears are silent. |

I meant speakers connected to the analog outputs of the sound card. In any case, the rears playing in the front would be a separate issue (I can only guess it is something with the receiver, but... I do not know).
Anyway, the reason I suggested that you upgrade kX, is because the newer versions generally have better ASIO performance than 3537 (plus bug fixes, better compatibility, etc), and I had thought that maybe ASIO problems was causing the gaps in the audio. I did not expect that you would not get any sound at all (it works fine for other people). Have you tried the GUI version since upgrading kX? Last edited by Russ; Dec 2, 2007 at 11:52 PM. |

yes i tried the gui verson of kX, it doesnt do anything, unless i put it on directsound but then it crashes.
ok some more investigation (i saw that it would cut out when the volume went to high [like the chime on msn or loud songs} i turned to 4% that seemed to helped it alittle, it still cuts in and out but not as bad now, i also connected all the outputs of the surrounder to the epliog through volume plugins. is there a way to make the one into vol thing into more input/outputs so i dont have 8 littles just one big one? |

end
The above assumes that you want 1 slider to set the same volume to all the outputs. You can change the name to what ever you want (as well as input/output names, and default volume level, etc). If you want separate volume controls, then add more control variables: i.e. control volume0 = 0.5; control volume1 = 0.5; ... macs out0, 0, in0, volume0; macs out1, 0, in1, volume1; ... Just paste the above into a text file (or use kX Editor), and save as VolX8.da (or whatever name you give it, etc), and double click on the file to register it. BTW: You really should only need 6, as AC3 will only do 5.1 anyway, and sCenter1 and sCenter2 are not used in 5.1 mode (no need to connect sCenter1 and sCenter2 to ASIO).
