I have a question: Work this program (redocneKX) with Realtek HD 7.1 ? I have this soundcard on my motherboard, this card has SPDIF, and i want to play games in 5.1 throw it. Is there any possibility, how to do this

I made a tool to see information about ASIO and access the ASIO control panel. It's called InfoASIO and it's posted in the first post of this thread.
I don't think it would work with the Realtek HD 7.1. The program takes the audio in the soundcard through ASIO and so far to my knowledge only the cards from Creative do that. Do you also have a Creative soundcard in your system? It is possible to get the games to send the audio to the Creative card, then to the encoder and then to the Realtek HD 7.1 to output the encoded audio through spdif. I would like you to tell me the name of your motherboard if you don't mind. I would like to look up the specs of this soundcard. |

The specific model of the sound card would be helpful. Some models have there own built in encoder (i.e. Dolby® Digital Live) and as such, should not need a program like this.

Asio Tool
Trill, what runtime libs do I need to run your tool? Been downloading all sorts of DLL's so far, but it keeps wanting others...
So far: mfc71.dll, msvcr71.dll and msvcp71.dll. I quit after that. (Thought it might be part of dotnet, but no go there either.) *EDIT* Never mind, that 3rd one was the last one

thanks for the great work
im on creative drivers on an audigy 2 zs, spdif pass enabled in audio console, using redocnexk 1.05. when i run it everything is ok for what ive been reading here, my receiver gets the ac3 signal, then i go to the speaker test and when i test with the noise the front are ok, center and sub too, but the rear sound comes from the front. the same happens in games, i dont know what may be. help apreciated and sorry for my bad english :P EDIT: well its seems that the receiver wasnt decoding the signal at all, now its fixed and all i can tell is that this program KICKS ASS. i dont have enough words for thanking you tril ! GREAT WORK MAN Last edited by foxxx; Jan 5, 2007 at 12:15 PM. |

I played with this great tool for hours now and finally managed to hear at least something ... sometimes.
My A/V receiver receives a Dolby Digital signal, but the sound is clipping extremely. So extremely that I can hear ~1 sec of sound in a whole minute - during the rest of the time just silence. I experienced a similar problem once when I tried to play an AVI with AC3 sound using VLC media player. I could hear one second of sound from the beginning of the movie which then repeated continuously... ![]() I assume that it's not a problem of this tool, but of my configuration. I am using a Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Extreme Music with the Creative drivers (WinXP Professional) and I played with all parameters of redocnXk.exe as well as with the ASIO buffer latency. No success so far... What else can I do to make it work? |

Version 1.06 released.
changelog - Fixed a memory leak that happened when freeing the memory used by the encoder. - Fixed a bug related to the ASIO out buffers. - Added the -h and -s switches. - Improved the conversion from 24 bit to 16 bit. The volume needs less to be reduced. The -h and -s switches are to select two hotkeys to hide and show the console window. By default, I set ctrl + alt + 9 to hide the console window and I set ctrl + alt + 0 to show the console window. I chose those keys because they are unlikely to be already used by other apps. ctrl + alt can't be changed but you can change the 9 and 0 keys for other keys. Read the readme for details. Shingo, it will clip if the ASIO latency is too low. Try different ASIO latencies. I posted a tool to change the ASIO latency in the first post. You need to use the mode for the drivers that you use. If you use the kX drivers, use the kX mode. If you use the Creative drivers, use the Creative mode. |

The -b and -r parameters don't work:
redocneXk.exe -r 1 => Error, -r switch incorrectly used redocneXk.exe -b 480000 => Error, -b switch incorrectly used If more parameters are passed, no error occurs, but the parameters have no effect. And still: My receiver gets a Dolby Digital signal, but I don't hear any sound as long as redocneXk.exe is running ![]() Btw.: Is there a way to set the ASIO latency to 11 or 12 ms? My receiver gets the DD signal with 10ms continuously, but maybe I could also hear something with latency set to 11ms or 9ms ? |

itssimon, I'll look into the parameters that don't work and I'll post another version to fix it fast.
You are using an X-Fi. In the console of the X-Fi, there is a setting to set the what you hear (WUH) as the "recording source". I'm not sure it's called recording source but you get the idea. You have to set it to what you hear in all three modes. EDIT : version 1.07 released. change log - Fixed -b and -r switches. Last edited by Tril; Jan 14, 2007 at 01:52 PM. Reason: version 1.07 released. See first post. |

Thanks for the fast fix, Tril!
With the Renderer set to DirectSound I can now hear something through all 5.1 channels. The test tones in the EAX console come from the correct speakers. Yippee! Unfortunately all sound is very distorted and stuttering, with all little bit echo It somehow sounds like one would try to decode mp3's with a veeeery slow CPU.My settings are now: redocneXk.exe -d 0 -m 3 -r 1 -o 0 -p 5 -l 1 -b 640000 ASIO latency: 4 ms (same result with 3, 5, 7 ms) X-Fi Mode: Entertainment (same result with Audio creation mode) SPDIF sampling rate: 48Khz (also tried 44.1 Khz) Also interesting is, that if I play sound for more than approx. 3 seconds, my receiver loses the continuous DD signal and flickers between DD and no signal until I stop playing sounds. During the flickering I can't hear anything of course. I've tried really everything to make it work, but it's always the same. I don't know any other setting to play with anymore ![]() Do you have an idea? |

version 1.08 released.
itssimon, there was a bug in DirectSound output causing stuttering, crashes and blue screens. I fixed it and released a new version. I did not notice the bug before you reported a problem because I usually use WaveOut ouput. Try this new version. If it still stutters, I suggest to replace -l 1 by -l 2 or -l 3. This is known to help for at least one X-Fi user I know. |

Hi,
My sound card is SB Live 5.1. I really could be glad to have it working on this card. Tril, is there any chance to figure this out ? |

@scorpiox, redocneKx does work with your card, the problem is that AC3 passthru does not, so there is not much point in using it with your card. The AC3 passthru issue is a kX issue, not a redocneXk issue, so there is not much Tril can do about it.

Russ,
You are right. Anyway I am getting upset, that with my original creative drivers it's oposit. Passthru works and ASIO doesn't. I have already tested with the original creative drivers and ASIO4all. As you already know very well there is an input issue: "Your ASIO driver supports 2 inputs but you need at least 14" By the way, why is that 14 ? I am still keep on searching of the possibility of activation ASIO under my original creative drivers, any ideas ? |

scorpiox, that messages was added because of the supposition that the user with a Creative soundcard and drivers (not the X-Fi), will use the ASIO drivers provided by the Creative drivers.
Here's the inputs given by an audigy with the Creative drivers : 1 Analog Mix L 2 Analog Mix R 3 Mix L 4 Mix R 5 Mix FL 6 Mix FR 7 Mix RL 8 Mix RR 9 Mix FC 10 Mix LFE 11 Mix RC 12 Mix RC 13 Mix SL 14 Mix SR 15 SPDIF In L 16 SPDIF In R 17 Line-In 2/Mic 2 L 18 Line-In 2/Mic 2 R 19 Auxiliary 2 L 20 Auxiliary 2 R 21 Mic In L 22 Mic In R From those inputs, inputs 5 to 14 are used. When loading them, you have to load them from the first in the list so the program loads 1 to 14. |

I do not know anything that will work for you. Remember that it is not only an ASIO driver that is needed, but an ASIO driver with at least 6 inputs, that correspond to the correct channels for 5.1 sound.

Hi,
Just before your reply, I have started with the installation of YouP-PAX-Live-v1.22.2006 along with the YouP-PAX-Live3.33.exe. At the moment it looks like I have installed Audigy 4 drivers running under my live. I don't know how ASIO originally should work under those drivers. In my case there is a message under InfoASIO.exe that there is no interface working with the ASIO, something like that - I had the same under my original live drivers but know it looks like it is written in japanese

This can be the cold truth ... the Live card you have there, just simply don't support CT ASIO drivers natively.
Can you see CT ASIO drivers being installed? Registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO\Creative ASIO and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO\SB Audigy 4 ASIO [8400] and maybe HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO\SB Audigy 4 ASIO 24/96 [8400] In my sig there is ASIO Control panel listed. DL it and run ... do you see any Creative ASIO devices listed? jiitee |

There is a HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO\Creative ASIO only.

hi,
i switched to windows vista x64 and since there are no kx drivers at the moment is am using the default creative ones. i wonder if anyone got redocneXk working ? 1.08 starts without errors, but i have no sound ( before starting my receiver has pcm input, then after stating i do not have a signal at all ). in the properties of the spdif out (volume mixer) rXk is listed but i cannot change anything. any ideas ? thanks, mac :edit: ok i found some notes on the creative beta driver. only on 32bit spdif passthrough is supported. so i think this should be my problem. anyone with vista-32 tried it ? Well i have a few results. I have an Audigy2 ZS card with the original (latest) Creative drivers and now i got it working.
To all who have noisy rear/any speakers on explosions/etc. : i solved the problem with the GUI version (as you can edit the matrix directly in it) by simply multiplying all values there with 0.5 - there's no noise now. My guess is that with the Creative drivers it takes values from multiple ASIO inputs for some outputs and the calculated value is simply too big do it needs to be reduced somehow (the volume was much higher than in other cases anyway). Reducing the volume did not solve the problem (tried wave, master, in-game, advanced/by channel - no effect). I suspect the problem is with the calculation itself. I wonder if there's a way to solve this with the command line version but i don't know any. It'd be great to have some options for a general multiply value for that matrix for the command line version as well. scorpiox: i didn't follow the whole story but i got the same problem (2 input error) the first time and the problem was the i didn't have the Creative ASIO as the default driver (-d 0). Also there are multiple options for me with Creative: Driver #0 - Adobe Default Windows Sound Driver #1 - Creative ASIO Driver #2 - SB Audigy 2 ZS ASIO 24/96 [D... Driver #3 - SB Audigy 2 ZS ASIO [DF00] -d 1 and -d 3 works but -d 0 and -d 2 doesn't. I wonder if you've listed all possibilities with redocnekx -d. I hope it was useful. clr |

Hey, I just wanted to thank you for this awesome project. I tried it some years ago, when I had no idea about how to work with the DSP or anything else. I was curious today and tried again and after some little problems (forgot to switch on the sub, doh) it works perfectly now. I first was startled that sound was perfect in Zoom Player but choppy in Winamp, but switching the output to WaveOut solved the problem. Can't really say if I hear any difference, but knowing that in all runs digital is nice to know :-D

Hello Everybody,
I have acoustic system: Creative Inspire 5.1 Digital 5700 and Sound Card: X-FI Platinum, Installed drivers from CD which was in the package with sound card. My system connected to sound card via Digital I/O and i read that there is driver which can help to me for have 5.1 Sound with Digital Connection. It's qredocneXk. I have started it, all by readme file and i have so message after driver starting: redocneXk_v1.08>redocneXk.exe -d:2 -m:0 -s redocneXk v1.08 The avcodec library is licensed under the LGPL. Maybe i should turn on something additional? (Because in the game the same problem) |

From what you showed, ASIO is working at 44100 Hz. It needs to be 48000 Hz for the encoder to work. I believe that there is an option somewhere in the X-Fi drivers to change the ASIO frequency.

I have been saerching acound the net for a long time and used a lot of evenings trying to get redocneXk work but without luck. I have installed ASIO4ALL 2.8 Beta 2. I am running Vista Ultimate x86 and have a Creative SoundBlaster Live! 24 Bit external.
Can anyone give me a step by step guide to how I can get the realtime encoding to work? |
