As Max M. said, AC3 passthru does not work on an SBLive! with the kX drivers.
As you found out, only the Creative drivers support AC3 passthru but unfortunately, there is no ASIO driver included with the Creative drivers (from what I remember). I think I know why it crashes with ASIO4ALL. It's a small bug in redocneXk. It's because the ASIO4ALL drivers does not provide 6 channels from the sound card and redocneXk assumes there are at least 6 available. Maybe there is an option in ASIO4ALL to activate the required number of input channels (I don't think so because I gave it a quick look before). The options of the drivers provide a big number of outputs but only a small number of inputs. Since the kX ASIO drivers can use as much as 16 inputs and 16 output channels at the same time, it may be possible to get the same result with ASIO4ALL (if it's programmed to do that). I'll look into this possibility. |

I'm not sure if it would work.
Even if you could get ASIO to work under the Creative drivers it may not work because you need the audio drivers to configure the DSP in a way that sends the audio from the sound card to the cpu. When using the kX drivers, that's not a problem because you can configure the DSP any way you want. When using the Creative drivers with an Audigy or Audigy2, it's not a problem either because these drivers configure the card to use ASIO to transfer audio from the sound card. When using the Creative drivers with a SBLive!, I'm not sure it would work because I don't think the audio drivers configure the DSP correctly. |

Hi all, and thanks again for this great project!
I'd like to use redocneXk with my new Audigy 4 SB0610 soundcard, and my external amp using the digital out. The first problem is I don't manage to use kx driver 3538j with my soundcard (no sound at all) I've just created a special thread for this issue. The second one is if Creative driver seems to work (the last version, which should be ASIO 2.0), I cannot launch redocneXk 2.02 -> it crashes! Is this version compliant with my card/the creative drivers? What's wrong? Thanks for your help! |

Solved!
The crash comes from I reused redocneXk 2.02 with my Creative drivers, after having setup it with kx and my old Live! 5.1. Consequently, Settings.xml was filled with kX stuff, and that why it crashed! Just having deleted this file, and it's working. I've now another problem. If my amp is correctly switched in DD mode, and the music can be heard from all my 5.1 speakers, there are also cracking noises. Another thing is I cannot used a latency of 32ms with the ASIO panel, only multiples of 10 (2-4-10-20-30...) If only I could use kX with my SB0610

Hey, some questions concerning the drivers:
1. Does the driver work with my Creative Audigy 2 ZS with standard drivers or is it better to get those KX Audio Drivers? 2. Does it "support" or better transfer EAX and Dolby Digital Signals correctly? 3. Does it cost performance for my computer? 4. Do I have to start the plugin every time, or is once enough? And how to deactivate it, if i dont want to use 5.1 Sound through my digital output? Sorry, if some of these questions are stupid. Would be great if you could answer these, thanks already. 1. if the CL drivers have ASIO support, yes
2. EAX is irrelevant when talking about AC3. If you mean AC-3 passthrough, then you have no need to be using redocnXk for that 3. there will be a CPU load as redocneXk compresses your audio into AC-3 4. you will have to run the program (and any parameters required) every time you want to use it. Adding it to the "startup" folder in the start menu is a good way to make it start automatically. Also when you don't need AC3, simply close the program

Hi, I have one question, does redocneXK work with X-Fi soundcard?
I have Samsung Home Theater with S/PDIF input and I find solution to send multichannel sound from i.e. games to it. |

Every soundcard supports ASIO when you install ASIO4ALL. But soundcard must support also recording from all 6 output channels. When I install ASIO4ALL and run redocneXK on my onboard Realtek only left and right channels are available (this soundcard has 2 input and 6 output channels).
I don't have X-Fi yet (but I wan't to buy it). RedocneXK probably run on it, but can someone tell me is this program capture mulichannel sound from this soundcard. |

i'm having a problem with the program :S
My speakers are the TEAC PowerMax 1500 (goggle for tech specs) they are multimedia speakers. in analog mode (4 point) they only support 4.1 surround sound, because the decoder only has 2 entrances (Front and Back speakers). I'm also using the digital out of my sound card, which by the way is a Creative sound Blaster Live! 5.1 digital (SB 0220 (recognized by kX as a SB0222)). So on to the problem. With the creative drivers, in order for me to get 5.1 surround sound on dvds i had to go to the creative surround mixer, select the "5.1 Speakers", toggle on the Digital Output Only, and disable the AC3 dolby surround checkbox on the settings so the signal went directly to the decoder. The decoder then recognized the AC3 Signal and changed the sound mode from Pro logic to dolby digital. The speakers are connected through a stereo headphone jack to double RCA. The left (white) RCA Plug is the one that is connected to the Coaxial entrance on the Decoder. i installed redocneXk 2.03 and the kx drivers, the drivers work fine, the program doesn't. i did like trill said, connect the pins in the DSP, put the mixer on 5.1 movie mode, enable AC3 passthru and select the kX ASIO driver. If i select the audio renderer as directsound and click on "start encoding" the program crashes. i'm using directX 9.0c. If i select the audio renderer as waveout and click on "start encoding" the program seems like it is working, but the decoder stays on Pro logic and doesn't switch to dolby digital since the signal its reciving is an AC3 signal right? i've tried every spdif option on the ac3 passthru box and still it doesn't change to dolby digital. i've also tried every enconding bitrate avaiable and still i get no results. what's the thing with so many spdif? in the ac3 passthru box i got spdif0, spdif1, spdif2. in the DSP, after sniffing arround a bit, i found Spdif0, spdif1, spdif2 AND spdif3. (i'm using the default config). the dvd software that i'm using is powerdvd 7, and with the creative drivers, on audio settings, i had selected the "use SPDIF" option. with the kX drivers with ac3 passthru enabled (on any spdif option), the "use spdif" option desapears. i think it's not a wiring problem because with the creative drivers i got ac3 surround on DVDs with only one jack plugged in. what should i do? |

@RjM, AC3 passthru does not work with your card (nor any 10k1 based card) and kX.
Additionally, from your description, it sounds like you were not getting AC3 with the CL driver either. Maybe your speaker system is set wrong (it sounds like it is in ProLogic mode and not AC3/Dolby Digital mode), or maybe there is a compatibility issue. If you want to use kX, then you cannot use AC3 passthru (and thus cannot really use redocneXK for its intended purpose). Instead you would have to either use the analog connections, or set Surrounder to the 2.0 Surround Mix preset, and enable DOO mode (I think this should work similair to the settings you were using with the CL driver, but I cannot be sure). some help with SB0360
Hi,
I need some help too. I have some problems with my Jazz Speakers J9940b with dolby decoder. I was forced to swich from nforce 2 with soundstorm to a new pc with a Audigy 2 ZS platinum pro ( sb0360) and now the speakers don't work in 5.1 mode. By default with every sound blaster i've tryed the speakers identify the signal as beeing stereo, my problem is making the sound blaster encode the signal into ac3. I think i managed to do that with redocneXk and kxdrv3538k drivers but i don't have any sound ( just some low beeps). The speakers are locked into dolby mode but i can't hear anything playing. Is there something i did wrong??? Are there any settings especially for Audigy 2 ZS PL Pro? http://img439.imageshack.us/img439/705/1wc6.jpg Last edited by ketu; Sep 9, 2006 at 12:05 PM. Did you modify the DSP like explained in the first post?
Is surrounder set to 5.1? Try to change the ASIO latency to see if it helps. Try the other version (2.03) of redocneXk to see if it works. It's here : redocneXk (GUI version) released - Realtime 5.1 ac3 Encoder If the version 2.03 works while the version 1.04 does not, it may be because of a bug that was present in version 1.04 that was fixed in version 2.03. |

Ok i set the DSP it works but without the center. It works best with 1.04, the gui 2.03 makes the sound discontinuous. Any idee on how to make the center to work?

@Tril,
I just noticed that if Hardware Acceleration is not set to Full, that it can cause redocneXk to hang. redocneXk correctly reports that it failed to initialize the ASIO driver in this case, but it still allows you to "Start Encoding". If you go ahead and do that, then it will freeze/hang when you try to "Stop Encoding" or exit the program. I would suggest leaving the "Start Encoding" option (both the manual and auto start option) disabled, if an ASIO error is detected. -Russ |

Is there a way to send the command prompt window from ver 1.04 in the system tray... or a way to remove it from taskbar when it is still working?
@Tril Damn good program you made. It really saved me. I'd like to congratulate you for making it. you're the best!!! Best regards, |

I made a tool to hide windows. It can hide any windows on your desktop. You just need to input the exact title of the window and press hide. I called it rXkHide.
rXkHide_v1.0.zip It's not perfect but it should do the job. One of its problems is that it hides or shows only one window even when there are more than one of the same name open. I'll fix that later. Last edited by Tril; Sep 13, 2006 at 10:46 PM. |

After i run redocneXk and ac3 passthru enables the master volume of my pc doesn't work anymore, i can only set the volume from my speakers or from wave output. Is there a way to make it work with redocneXk enabled? Or just to swich the wave with master so that i can set the volume. I don't use the pc for recording or something else just music, games and movies.
best regards! |

From memory, the master volume is in epilog and since the sound never goes through epilog when using redocneXk, it does not work to use Master volume to lower the sound.
Why do you need to use Master volume and not Wave Output? Last edited by Tril; Sep 24, 2006 at 05:24 PM. Reason: Removed irrelevant information |

I've installed the last vers. of kx and the same thing.
I want to use master volume becouse i have a keyboard with volume wheel and it's easier to use it insead of the speaker volume or something else. Tks for the suppot anyway i will try to find a way to make it work.. maybe some windows tweaking ( the bad thing is that i haven't found anything on this topic on google) |

There are couple DTS/DD test tones @ http://www.sr.se/cgi-bin/mall/index.asp?programid=2445 (bottom of the page).
Does those play correctly through redocneXk for you? jiitee |
