Problems with recording midi in Cubase SE

I have enjoyed using the kX driver for a while now, but I encounter a problem when recording midi. I am using an M-Audio Oxygen 8 controller, and I contacted M-Audio about this and they said it wasn't the Oxygen 8. Whenever i record midi in Cubase SE (which im using kX with), i get crackling/popping noises in the background when i record and play back midi. If anybody knows how to fix this, it would be greatly appreciated.

thanks.

Try to set the asio-latency a bit higher. Give some more details about your work-station: which mobo, which OS, which kX-driver package.

Maddogg6 will become famous soon enough

Also, hardware midi (KX synth w soundfonts)?...

or more likely - using a SW synth/VSTi?

Also Which VSTi ?
I have noticed some VSTi's I have to adjust my latency higher to avoid pops and cracks.

If I HAVE to use that particular VSTi, I usually render them to a wave (record to audio track) so I can re-adjust my latency back to my more acceptable 5ms (20ms for *some* soft synths) latency.

Maybe Cubase SE just bites! I feel like I have been cheated. I am running and EMU-APS right now with the company provided 1.6 ASIO drivers and I have seemed to get poor performance with VSTi on Cubase SE (registered) but better performance with Fruity Loops 5 (Demo). Not to mention the fact tha I think SE may be missing a latency monitor that is in SX and SL and allows you to see the input/output latency.

The jerks! They didn't advertise that difference! I could have bought FL5 or Cakewalk! I feel ripped off. In fact, Cubase looks like something that was written by two or three programmers tops!!! Haver they ever heard of QA?
