hey there. i've been a loyal fan of these drivers for months already. i know it has been a hard work, and i want to help with my knowledge, so i think i'm going to write quite a lot about things i've been discovering. i also would like to share my presets, i see nobody has done that yet, and i think it's quite important.
i can test the whole system with a SoundBlaster Live!Value (CT4670), and both Win98SE and WinXP Professional as I have them both running on my system.
the greatest lack of the drivers, currently, is the incompatibility with Vienna/AweVBank/Alive that could make life much easier in the long run. its a bit complicated to load patches from different banks, and when you do so, it sometimes fails. the metronome, when you use a patch from the KXSynth, behaves very strange. it gives very low sound and it is very irregular. hope this bug can be fixed. there's a strange issue regarding the metronome and is that this behaviour occurs in Cubase 5.1r1 running on Win98SE but not on Cubase SX running on WinXP.
i've noticed one thing, and is that the latency value works differently on the different hosts. on fruityloops 3.56, running on both Win98SE and WinXP, all of the latency values work fine. on cubase sx and Reason2 on Winxp, the biggest value only, gives me the following message:
"Error creating input buffer #1: error=-2147024809 [size=65536] GetLastError()=2
E_INVALIDARG: Too big latency and too many channels-resetting latency... Retry?"
In Win98SE however, the message appears both on the 341ms value and the 170ms value. Then the driver automatically resets the value to 21ms on both systems.
Apart from these little bugs, the driver is just fantastic. The possibility of routing everything in a modular style is great. you could set a sort of snap function to make the connections, in this way, the connectors could be 'magnetized'. also, most effects do nothing. i use just the delay, and de APS effects, the rest seem to do nothing, or mess up the sound immediately, i know a little about design if you want some help. i've done several instruments in reaktor and i can help in the audio architecture, although i know nothing about programming.
why don't you setup something like a log file for error messages that gives a detailed report of the crashes for you to check out? then we could send you those files and that could really help a lot.
ok, hope someone will answer these questions and look at the suggestions
good luck
