What should my 'speaker setting' be set to for headphones?

I have 5.1 speakers, so I switch between 5.1 and 2.1 quite often. With 5.1 I use movie mode just because i'm normally watching a movie.

Anyhow, I play CS with headphones, and on my Audigy Platnium Ex, I have a headphone jack with it's own volume control, so thats where i plug my headphones into.

I guess my question is, do I use 2.1 Stereo Only, Simple Mix, Surround Mix for the best possible "directive sound" (hearing where others are, listening farther distances, etc.) with headphones

PS: I can't use creative drivers, for some reason, they dont' recognize my card with this motherboard (MSI K8T NEO FSR). Its quite weird, I was going to chuck my audigy out the window, but the KX drivers recognize it, so :P
