Sad Sound blaster live oem (CT4832) no sound...

Ok I've checked on driverheaven and looked all over the net using google and can't find anything to get the blasted live oem card to work. The card was purchased from some computer shop way back and decided to use it again. Detected by kx project driver as CT4832(live oem), installed fine. No amount of fiddling with the settings yielded anything. Tried playing mp3 with foobar2k but no go(not foobar problem cuz it was working just fine with another different card).

Kindly not flame me for not searching through the forum/read the FAQ/starting guide on KX since I've done all that and the damn card still won't work.

So anyone who successfully gotten their card to work? Could you provide the steps to get the card to output sound correctly?

Read somewhere that the old microsoft window update for "Creative media driver 5.1.2601.0" way back in 2k3 does the job. Of course can't find that file on web now. Does anyone have that file saved as a zip/rar somewhere?

Thanks for reading and replying to this.

System Specs

set windows control panel to 5.1
set kX to 5.1
and turn off "swap front/rear" OR plug your speakers into the rear (black) output jack

Thanks for the reply.

I did that before i first posted and didn't work. Did the 5.1 for both kx speaker setting and in sound/audio device setting. Also plugged my speakers to rear out. No luck.

One thing I'm puzzled with is why can't I uncheck the digital out only? I simply cannot make it unchecked...

Tried to use microsoft's own hardware testing in the snd/aud device setting and the speaker volume/mic vol levels were both greyed out. So very weird..

Brings me back to the days when I tried to get it to work in win2k. Had to read a 1 page writeup to get the $#@! thing working

I tried uninstalling the kx driver, rebooted and then reinstalled. Still got the same thing. I thought maybe if I could delete the original Microsoft live WDM driver it'd help(so xp won't keep reinstalling the built-in driver), but I have no idea which files to delete.

Strange thing is that the same card pulled from the old socket 370/cel 1.3/xp and plugged into my new A643000+(stock)/Asus A8N-E/XP didn't make make any difference. Exact same thing happened. I've read somewhere that there was once a microsoft update called "Creative Media driver 5.1.2601", which after being installed, should help make this blasted card work. Alas using the most recent Windows Update version(v6 I think) that option does not show up. Quite a few other ppl around the net could not find the update either. Would you know where that file can be downloaded? It'd probably help make the CT4832 work(of course along with this driver) I'd think...

Thanks again for the help. If all fails I still got my M-audio Revo...

I think, you have a driver collision, so use driver cleaner from this forum to uninstall all previous creative stuff. Then install kX in save mode and reboot in normal mode. If necessary, reinstall kX without uninstalling. This worked fine with my old CT4790. Don´t give up too fast, read also the install guides in the forum here. Use the 3537 driver version for all tests, not the new betas!
