Problem with two similar SB-Cards and the drivers

Hello!!

I've encountered a problem when using two similar SB-Cards in one PC. I tried to use two CT4832 in one PC. I wanted to connect them via S/PDIF as described in the forum. I also read the threads about installing two cards in one PC.

I first installed one card and installed the drivers. Everything was ok. Then I put the second card in my PC and installed the drivers once again. The driver asked me if I want to use the drivers on my CARD1 and then it asked me if I want to use the drivers on my CARD2 (both cards were called the same, but I was asked two times, so I assume that the 2 cards were recognized). The driver-installation finished its work and there were no problems.

But now when open kX-DSP and want to choose the seconrd sound-card....big surprise: there is only one card to choose. As it was before installing the second card.

I use kX-Drivers 3537 on a Windows XP SP2.

When I try to do the same on my second Windows-Installation (Windows XP SP2, too), then wirndows recognizes the second card, installs the original (not kX) drivers and then hangs up with a blue screen. Afterwards I'm not able to start my windows again. The bosd cames every time and says that there is a problem with emu10k. The first card here has the original drivers, too.

When I use two different cards( CT4832 and CT 4670) in my PC evrything works fine and I can choose both cards in kX-DSP.

Can anybody help?

Thanks,
sawa999.

You may have to use 2 different drivers like kX and Creative's drivers.

Works, but...

Using two different drivers works, but I wanto to connect the two cards via S/PDIF and use the benfits of kX-Drivers on both cards. And there is no word, that says that I can't use two similar cards with kX Drivers. I think that this is important. Some people (like I) might think that you can use two similar cards with kX. If this don't work, than this should be stated in the description of the drivers becuase I think this is an important issue.

But on the other hand... using two similar cards with the generic drivers won't work, too. Maybe this is a windows problem.... Don't know.

For me, the problem is solved, because I have another SB-Card that is different. But I think this problem is important for newbies who want to buy SB Cards and use kX.

Bye then.

I'll try

I'll try a different PCI slot. My two similar cards don't share IRQ's or other resources, but I'll try a different slot.

Thanks for the help,
sawa999.
